Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Just heard back from Matt last night, looks like I need the T-SB-0077-16 before I can flash. WHY ME?

 

It takes like an hour to do. And it's free

 

Yeah... Unfortunately, I've asked for it before and the dealership didn't want to do it. I honestly may have to threaten.

You're going to the wrong dealership lol. There is a recall for it. My guy didn't even hesitate.

It's your vehicle. They are required to do it if you tell them to. If they don't, I'd report them to Toyota.

 

What tune is it so I can go and get my trucked tuned? I didn't know there was a recall for it. I feel like I'm missing out because I'm struggling with with the gas milage on my truck having over 100k miles on my 16' taco already :/

My new Windows10 laptop won’t Download the flash
Manager for the tune. Do I need Word to download?

 

Won't download? Are you getting an error message? Give us some screen shots and we'll try to help you out.

 

Word is a word processing app. It has nothing at all to do with downloading the flash utility.

 

I put the link in manually and it downloaded it. Thanks for the replies guys. I’m technologically challenged so more problems are probably forthcoming. Appreciate the help.
When I clicked on the link it wouldn’t open at all..but it opened on my IPad.
Just remembered. After I shut down Norton it did work with the manual input????
Another quest.. when Idownload the software pkg. are the tools included in that or is that a separate download?

 

Hi all,

Currently running 1.04 and it’s great, but I need to flash back to stock to help diagnose an engine code.

Anyone know if I can flash back to stock ECU without doing the TCU? I don’t want to fuck up the truck.

Matt provided the stock ECU file but not the stock TCU because he said the TCU’s are obsolete and about to be replaced or something. I just need the stock TCU, so a bit confused why that can’t get released, but happy to try flashing the ECU alone if it’s not going to hurt the truck.

Make sure you run the driver software before you run the "flashP5.exe" that's one of the mistakes I made.

It won't hurt anything, it just won't work because p5 doesn't know what device to run the scan from.

 

You aren't going to screw anything up - the TCU changes were minimal anyway as I understand it. Better to get confirmation from Mat I suppose but I don't think you'd have an issue as it isn't responsible for anything timing/fueling/throtte related that would cause issues as far as I understand it.

Yessir, should all be there. I actually conducted all the installation and scanning without connection to the internet. (All necessary files were in my download folder)
