Matte White Hood for Glare

A coworker preached the matte black hood on his Jeep after I complained about my truck’s forward visibility (really want fwd cam) and the glare from the hood (hence this post). I was wondering if anyone has done the middle third of their hood another matte color besides black— my truck is white and would like to keep it that way. Also was wondering what the consensus was on the whole matte hood idea... does it truly help or is it just an aesthetic “mod”? Thanks for any info.

 

The matte will help to not reflect sunlight. As for white, if you could match the color to your paint, why not? Otherwise it might just look like a yellow patch on your hood, that’d look like crap.

 

I did black. and it definitely helped the glare.

 

Blacking out the hood definitely helps. Matte white would cut down the glare, but it would still be "bright" since, per physics, it is still reflecting the full light spectrum.

 

The vinyl stickers look cool.. I mean uh help with the “glare”.
