90k Service

    Ok so, Im going to the dealer and they didnt have a quote for me over the phone. But Does anybody know what it might roughly be if i get:

    New Timing Belt
    New Water Pump
    All fluids topp'd (transmission, brakes, coolant, etc)

    No oil, i do that myself

    I would advise that you be familiar with all that is included with the 90K service. If it includes something that you don't want done, give them a specific list of what you do want them to do. If you refer to it as the 90K service with the rep, it will be written up as that which includes things like drain and refill both diffs and the t-cast. New spark plugs. Wires are not included.

    I just did the 90K service in Dec. 09. The basic 90K service will run you about $1100. It does not include the cost of the water pump ($350).

    I did all the things on your list plus the auto trans flush ($150), lower radiator hose and clamp ($30), a couple of bulbs ($15).

    Total out the door for the "90K service" was $1695.53 including tax. :eek:

    Never will I ditch out $1600 for a freaking 90k miles service job. $350 for a water pump is being ripped up the azz. For $350 one can get a complete timing kit with water pump and all seals. No labor cost if you are savvy enough to follow instructions and do it yourself or have AllData at your disposal like some of us.

    Mine cost $650 for everything above.

    I also did an engine flush for an additional $80

    Go here: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/ to figure out what is "recommended" for your truck. I too advise you get familiar with whats needed/when. If you can do stuff yourself you can "pick and choose" the services you need.

    I got a quote from a local dealer here in California for my 90K. They told me like $1,900 OTD including all belts, all fluids, plugs, tstat,waterpump, idlers (mine were shot). I literally laughed out loud and asked if he wanted to bang my sister and steal my wallet also.

    My advice: try to find an independent mechanic to do the work. I did, and I got all the above work done for $950 OTD. Still a lot of money, but well worth it IMO, since I don't have time nor the space available to work on it.

    Not everyone has the skills, tools and place to do the water pump and timing belt change out. You are very fortunate to be so "savvy".
