Good afternoon my name is Jorge and I recently bought a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 2wd for my first car. My question if anybody knows what modifications I can do to it because it came with a leveling kit and big 285/75/17. I notice a few problems right away first it was hard for me to brake and secondly my steering is stiffer than usually. It would mean a lot to me for your guys personal opinions of what I should do.

Larger tires equals more weight to stop and turn.. what is it you want the truck to do?

I want it to be a daily driver and on the weekend just to the lake and some recreational activities.

Going with a smaller tire like a 265, 70, 17 will be better for it, but I assume you bought it because you like it the way it is. Just wish it was easier to stop and steer..i think there is a tundra brake upgrade that can be done. I don't think there is much that can be altered with the steering.

Since it's your first vehicle we're not sure what your comparing it to. Things may be fine. Or not.

At a minimum you need to do a full brake inspection and make sure everything is in good repair, pads, shoes, rotors, drums, fluid, etc.

    Brakes are important.

Its reasonable to make sure the PS pump is full of fluid, but the tires you have will definitely make a whole different steering feel to either stock or most sedans
