    Same here. This is not a lesson I wanted to learn the hard way. A good torque wrench is a must for anyone who regularly removes their lugs, or any other critical component fasteners for that matter (wheels, suspension, engine, drive train, etc).

    I've only had a shop mess with my lugs once, and of course, I got home and they were ridiculously tight. One of these lugs torqued to 83 ft/lbs is super easy to take off with a 4-way. I'm 6'2" 220lbs, and it took quite a bit of effort to get those things off that day. I also would highly recommend retorquing after someone else messes with your ride.

    Well, I meant for theft prevention, as there’s lots of how to remove them without key videos out there. As for strong lug nuts, then ok.

    A buddy of mine had a flat on the side of the road with a locking lug nut that had a broken keyway, I used a 3 inch concrete chisel and was lucky enough to catch an edge of the lug with the chisel and mini sledge and broke it free, saved him a tow.

    Maybe a hardened punch to split them? I had some small chisels at my old, machinest, that were maybe 1/4" and could take licken!

    He is drilling them out, a little at a time as he should. When he steps up to the drill bit just a bit larger than the stud the remnants of the old lug nut will fall off with no damage to the wheel or the hub. Once that is done and the wheel is removed the spacer can be unbolted with no damage to anything except the stud on the spacer that was drilled.
