Trying to find a 2018 off road double cab with long bed and premium package in Midwest and not having much luck. Prefer white or silver.

Have a line on same thing with short bed for about $36k but no luck with the 6’ bed variant of the same for less than about $39k.

I realize I’m after a lot but seems nuts to spend $3k more for 12” of functionality.

Anybody have suggestions (other than pay up or change mind)? Know of any dealers who have them more plentiful in different regions? Happy to travel but $39k seems nuts.

Should also say, I’ve had Tacoma’s before; my first was an 05 access cab 4-banger 5-speed followed by a 2012 DCLB. Switched to a Tundra last year and hate driving the bus. Point being, I’m pretty comfortable with the 6’ bed, just want all the fancy crap I’ve never had before. And a black truck is not a good idea for me.

39k sounds like a fair price to me. Get what you want. Don’t settle for a short bed.

I have a TRD Sport DCLB 2wd. I was lucky that there was one about 30 minutes from the house. It was the only one in about a 3-4 hour radius.

That said, my only input is hope you get lucky? or call far and wide then order a plane ticket. By the time you pay for a plane ticket and spend all the time looking/traveling you may have been better off spending the money local.

Also, don't give up on finding the long bed. It is well worth it - as you know.

I called a dealer that was willing to order a DCLB with all the features I wanted. Paid invoice.

I custom ordered a BBP DCLB from Manhattan Beach Toyota. BBP very hard to get in Lo-Cal. It's actually being built later today, June 21st and should be here by the fourth of July. Buying through Costco is the easiest way to buy and get a good price. $800 below invoice and there's a $1000 cash back through July 9 - all with no hassle or haggle and dealing mature adults rather than punk kids (can we say Culver Toyota there). This is the first new car in 25 years. My '93 Toyota truck I bought new exactly 25 years ago and it's finally time after a quarter century and 300,000 miles. The old truck started making sounds yesterday like it's about to lose the timing belt, so it's parked forcing me to drive the old 911 for the next two weeks. Hard to put equipment in that though.

Where in Midwest? I'm in Wisconsin, my dealer has a few. They didn't have exactly what I wanted. They did a locate and trailered it in from KY, at no charge

Im in KS. Looking across 7 states.

Debating if it’s worth the cost and hassle. Figured it’d be easy-ish. Sounds like $39 isn’t in ‘got screwed’ territory if I decide to spend up.

What's the best case scenario? $38k? So you'd save about $1k, but have to factor in travel time/cost or freight? Man, look at it like this. You're going to keep this for many years. What's $1k come out to in the long run? Not much. If it's what you want, stop torturing yourself for the next 4 weeks or even longer, and just get it locally.

Hey! My factory order BBP is starting today too! I’ll bet we’re pretty close on the production line.

Tons of longbeds in the NE. They were actually the opposite of your problem, where dealer's had a hard time off loading them compared to shortbeds which were in higher demand, bought both my 15 and 16 LB at invoice in PA/NJ with lots of options to pick from, maybe try NE.

I ordered mine and it took 6 weeks but it was worth it at the end. I have a fully loaded OR LB and got it for 38,000. It might be worth your time and go through COSTCO's for a good deal. LONG BEDS are considered dinosaurs but it was worth it to me for that extra bed space. GOOD LUCK

I’m looking for an OR DCLB also, with Premium and Technology packages, Inferno color. I emailed several dealers, as suggested in:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/so-you-want-to-buy-a-tacoma.475482/
I searched in several states, coast to coast, and found none. If I wasn’t so picky about the color or packages, there were a few out there. These were about $39k and up, out-the-door. The Technology package, which you maybe didn’t want, adds $770.
Gene Messer Toyota in Lubbock, TX sent me a quote on a black one with Premium and Technology packages, with out-the-door of about $39.8k. I think Lubbock isn’t too far from you.
    Did you order one already?

Well...not official yet but very close.

Actually I used Costco and it was straight $3k off Msrp plus financing (or rebate) the truck also has about $1500 of extra junk (blackout, mudflaps) as well as a few nice bits like bed lighting, tailgate lock @ half price. They’re trucking it in from out east. So far so good. Should be out the door less tax at 39k for DCLB OR with premium and tech package.

Anyway, I’ll update tomorrow if all goes well.
