The snow kit I bought from Daryl / Phessor. I think it's the same one that John (97 white reg cab) has in his truck.

Putting one in for your sc? I'm super impressed you made that work. How did you get the intake manifold line up with the ports on the sc and secure the sc to the block / head?

Cool, did all your SC stuff come from him? He told me he removed his charger after never getting things to run quite right. Not gonna lie that's crossed my mind too but at this point I want to get it to work because every once in a while it just clicks all on it's own and pulls like the train at the end of the third Back to the Future movie. So I know it's just missing that special something. Really hoping my new intake piping, meth, and fuel pump dial it right in.

lol sounds exciting. Isn't it mechanically driven from the belt? How does it change it's boost intermittently?

I bought everything from Phessor - I read about his setup not working after I bought it lol. I don't plan on running the same setup - just 7th injector and meth eventually if I go to a smaller pulley. I don't plan on going smaller than the 2.2 which the guy on speedysgarage.net had on his 4runner. I just wanted to get a little help with the bigger 33's / 35's I am going to run w/o needing to go up to 4.88's. Trailer trucks can move along going 85 mph in the middle of the night here when I bug out to the desert - just imagine what passenger vehicles end up going lol. Couldn't convince myself to go with anything shorter than 4.56's and I got the heavy flywheel so hopefully that'll help on the freeway as well.

It's not changing it's boost but boost isn't the only power determining factor. The issue is it likes to pull timing under boost and for ever every degree of timing you can essentially add or subtract one percent of HP. Sometimes when it's doing everything right it'll be at +15 - +18 degrees of timing at 6.5psi. other times under the same conditions it'll pull timing down to +7 or +9 and it'll feel like your power just fell off, and even though your forcing 6.5psi of pressure in it'll tach up slower than even NA. This is why fueling, heat control, and tuning are so important. The more timing advance you can run without detonation the more power you get from your boost. So the meth should boost my octane to cut down on the detonation, cool the air charge which cuts the detonation, and up my AFR which I'm hoping brings me just rich enough to sit on peak power. I think a weak fuel pump is the reason why my truck is sometimes money and othertimes pocket change. But the meth on top of the new pump I've ordered should allow me to essentially eek more power out if the same boost through timing and cooler charges. Plus the atomized meth helps the rotors seal against eachother and the case also uppoing your boost a wee bit.

Got it - you think it's your fuel pump vs your ecu trying to keep up with the new boost or a combination of these plus more factors?

Yeah, the ECU only has two real options when it comes to dealing with detonation, richen up the mixture or back the timing off. Usually it bavks the timing, richens, then counts up the timing degree by degree. But if it cant richen all it can do is wait. The computer has no idea what your fuel pressure is or how much fuel is going through the injectors. It can only measure the AFR afterward and subtract the measured air charge from it to get an idea of fuel flow. So if the fuel pump cannot generate enough pressure anymore to fight the additional 6.5psi acting against it (plus the already larger fuel volume demand for boosted air charge), it will not flow enough fuel to richen the mixture as fast as it is expecting leaving one other option, retard the timing.

I should mention that my fuel pump is 290k old too, so hopefully the new Aeromotive 340lph (supports up to 600hp) solves that problem in a hurry.

Disregard the middle - trying to weld left handed and push the puddle - didn't work lol. I don't know what I'm doing - I figure if I keep making straight lines I'll figure it out lol. Gotta watch some videos this weekend. Work's keeping me busy during the week... lame. J/k love my job

@Speedytech7 hey man how's it going? I was wondering if you can limp around with 4x4 spindles without the axles in them? I'm trying to decide whether to tear out the front drivetrain before or after I drop the engine in.

Good good man, how close are you to driving this thing!

Manual hub or ADD, add no, manual hub yes but tape the backside up so grit doesn't get in there. You could tear apart an add axle and just use the outer but it has to have the tension from the axle nut holding the wheel bearing together.

Thanks Daryl! I bet. I'm considering saving the installation until after I pass smog in January and go full hog with the meth and 7th injector... I got a stock pulley in trade for the 2.1. I'll pm you about it. Got a new dd, or still using the Tacoma?

Ended up taping up the backside - had a fml moment when the toytec co wouldn't fit in the solo lca and I realized a new plan would have to happen. Hopefully I find a good deal on some 8" coilovers that I can just stick in there for the meantime! I didn't realize phx got so hot... Jeez Louise!

So besides the bummer about having to find a new strategy to get my front kit mounted than using the stock length coilovers, some progress is being made...

Got the second new door and mirror on - everything has had to been swapped out on both, what a pita because there's so many time consuming details:

Removed the rest of the crappy aftermarket wiring and found one of the previous owners just sucks at audio installation. I can't say it any nicer than that. lol

Con: digging out a bunch of "Great Stuff" spray insulation to get to the dent I am going to fix on the passenger side cab.

Pro: I don't ever have to worry about running out of rags.

These boxes weighed way too much - I could see something bad happening when bouncing around on dirt:

It was here that I realized I couldn't install my front kit yet :frusty:

I didn't take apart the other side any more than I had to in order to get the axle and the diff out. My new has been making working at night easy. I prefer night when I can - good temperature and no distractions.

Feelin' like an old redneck with my roommate's old advertisement sign from his work ^^^^

Anyone need a slightly abused door or fender? Doors are nice and insulated with some great stuff

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

And what at least one person on TW will most likely want, 4:10 front diff w/ an Aussie locker used maybe 5 times:

No plans to get another vehicle, I like my Tacoma. I do have to pull the differentials so I can get them re-geared to 4:88.

Awesome - you will have a lot of balls again since you're on 33's. Probably even when you go up to 35's :burnrubber:

Picked up some used 8" co's off of CL from a guy with an a armed Ranger up in Reno:

TC and even Solo wanted $150 + for coil bucket adapters - Camburgs were $65 so I drove over to Huntington to pick some up :spending:

    Strong stuff :)

I guess finned oil coolers are the new black:

The fabled first gen manual hub lt - I asked the guy that was helping me how they source the axles and confused the guy. It's OK I know most people they deal with aren't throwing money at 20 year old trucks lol.

He was nice though and let me check out the shop with some nice stuff going on like these 6100 trucks:

I learned that 6100 series are very similar to Trophy Trucks with few a mandated limitations like a wussy 600hp motor...

Took a walk at the beach and this was my back drop for the drive home

Sold my doors and fenders today as icing on the cake :broccoli::bananadance: :broccoli::cookiemonster:

I'll be sticking to 33" tires on this one. I had 37" tires on my old Hilux, but it was running 5:29 gears.
