    howdy y’all!

I’ve got a problem and before I go tearin stuff up, I figured I’d get some other opinions.

What I’ve got is a VW light bar https://dunebuggywarehouse.com/baja-bug-light-bar.html(no longer have that car, buyer didn’t wanna pay for the lights) with 4 lights and I want to put it on the 2016 Tacoma! Sounds awesome I know!

I’ve been racking my brain to find a way to affix it to the truck so I can use my expensive toys. I’m a on a very tight budget so I can’t go buy a bar specifically made for the taco. I have what I have and it’ll have to do.

So all you savy folks out there let me know what you think.

Looks like your bar is made to clamp on the drip rail, you would have to fab up a new way to attach the bar to the roof. How's the width of the bar compared to the Taco roof?

I had a similar bar on an old Baja Bug and it attached to the drip rails, that might sit too high off the roof of the truck.

I think that's too tall for the roof of the truck, but if you have access to some basic fab stuff you could probably make a "stylebar" out of it.

    Or like a rally nose.

No drip rails on a Taco - at least not this century!

I’m not for or against putting it up top. I had a though of removing the grill and mounting it in there...somehow...not sure yet.
The taco is about 7in wider than the bug, as expected.

I do have access to some fab stuff but mostly I got stuff to cut and drill here at the house, maybe bend (by heating) if necessary.

And yes, gotta have the aleve close by. Just finished putting together first aid kits for the trucks!

I’m also not opposed to making some legs from wood, which I have all the tools for that kind of stuff. One thought I had was to mount it up like a headache rack behind the cab so it doesn’t sit so high up and look rediculous, but I’d also like to have the lights on the lower bar still be useful.

Heres an idea, sell the bar and lights. Buy a small LED bar for behind grille or whatever. call it a day.

    budget crisis averted

Im gonna be honest, the rest of your situation is likely going to look like absolute shit. Who cares how good the lights look when they're mounted on a spaghetti noodle supported by 2x4's.

I’m am fairly competent at woodwork. I feel like I could make it look like it goes with the truck. Not looking to leave an unstained/unpainted wood product looking like I just rolled out of the trailer park. Just thinking outside the box and using what I got.
