Great pics! Love seeing the V1 and Drifter together.

Exactly. The reverse position is perfect in the rain.

We do have a simple deflector shield that will be attached to the roof in front of the fan. Protection against branches and to keep it from potentially lifting at highway speeds.

Yep but in rain I barely cracked the vent on my old pop up.

Baja sunsets

 

Obviously not going to wire up a complete dual battery system in the rental, but still needed to be able to power my fridge.

I just *happened* to bring a spare Odyssey battery along with me, and already had a 100w Renogy panel on my roof so finally plugged the solar into my charge xontrolle and hooked it up to the battery.

4.5 amps seems pretty good for a single 100w panel. I've seen it as high as 5 amps and I've been going to bed every night with a full battery going on close to a week now.

Also pictured is part of the cable track running around the interior of the camper. Not only does it allow you to hide cables but increases the structural rigidity of the shell.

Planning on moving the charge controller to one of the front corner brackets when I get one.

 

Happy to hear you have been able to make due all things considered. Also another testament to the thought hats gone into the Drifter!

Something I haven't seen mentioned is whatever material is used for the Drifter mattress cover is straight awesome. A lot of people focus on the mattress in RTT but I almost think the cover is more important as it's harder to replace. You can just buy a foam mattress and cut to shape, but sewing up a new cover is a lot harder.

My CVT tent had this slippery nylon material that made a lot of noise, but was really easy to clean (just brush it off).

My Alu Cab tent had some cotton or cotton blend fabric that was really comfortable but immediately after the first night felt really dirty. It almost sucked in dirt and dog hair, and I had to take a vacuum to it constantly.

I have 30+ nights in my Drifter now and I actually just "cleaned" it for the first time last night. And by that I mean I took a vacuum to it - I'll probably throw it in the wash when I get to SLC because I have a friend staying with me but other than that it feels and looks pretty clean despite the use. I probably washed my sheets at home every week or two so I'm not a totally disgusting cretin.

 

So I take it the mattress cover does well with dog hair then?

That will be my biggest challenge by far ...Not just with the mattress cover, but the whole camper interior in general.

 

Just grab some bed sheets. Full size sheets work well with the Drifter mattress. No need for custom sheets. I actually took the mattress to my MIL to make custom sheets and a week later told me that full size sheets will work. IIRC the overall footprint of the Drifter mattress is slightly bigger than a full size bed, but only being 3” thick (as oppose to a regular mattress), you’re able to wrap around the Drifter mattress more because it’s thinner.

Of course!

And since we camp in the rain sometimes, you can seal it against the lower roof to divert water to the sides, instead of between the vehicle and awning.

For the 270° awnings folks, we can move the side latch to the rear.

All part of the plan. One of the reasons why we made the lower roof a bit taller, and vertical on the Drifters.

 

Deposit down and eagerly looking forward to becoming a member of the family. Now to see the alucab and prinsu/lightbar

 

I just ordered an Alu Cab awning so hopefully will have some shots of that in the next few weeks.

If you scroll back a few pages I posted some shots of a Prinsu/light bar on the roof..tldr it works but there's not really any rack space left.

 

For all you guys who have mounted awnings already, did you just through bolt it from inside the awning bag to sandwich the extrusion against the Drifter? I cant imagine you would have wanted to try and use the normal slots on the extrusion and the small hardware it requires.

On the flippac I mounted two fake gutter mounts on all three sides. Then used some stainless awning mounts that were designed to hold an ARB awning on a Westfalia. I had to bend them a bit to get the angle right to match the flippac sides but it allows us to move the awning around to any side which is nice. It does leave a gap between it and the shell but the bag covers it up for the most part.

I had been planning on doing something similar on the Drifter but I like the fact that a more permanent mount would be solid, and harder to steal. plus it looks good flush mounted. I may do a bit of a combination since my prototype awning I build for the rear I still want to be able to take on and off.

 

Camped over Lake Powell last night. Excited to get my Drifter with a fan sometime soon...pretty over the Utah heat honestly. I don’t care if it’s 120 during the day as long as it’s 50-60 at night. Instead of 85.

 

Camped in that exact same spot 5 weeks ago.

 

I haven’t mounted one on mine yet, but i plan on doing the dame thing that @MJonaGS32 did with his. Just gonna bolt it to the lower part of the upper section. No extra mounts necessary.
