when ARB says bumper / winch for 888 coil what weight are they referring too ? 100 lbs? only issues I see running 888 coils without added weight or even just rock sliders, aluminum skid plate & metal grill is that the settled height will be too high due to not enough weight up front and your cv boots will rub and wear to quick.

Plenty people have been running it with out sliders or skids and they say its fine a little stiff but should be fine.

Depends on personal preference and the roads you drive on, I have 888's with a hidden winch mount and steel sliders and the ride is too stiff for my liking. The shocks also top out if I hit speed bumps too fast (>5mph). I am debating switching to 887's to soften up ride until I can afford some Kings.

i wouldnt think switching to 887's will soften the ride since they have the same spring rate as 888's, they are just 1/2" shorter

The stiffness should remain similar but the topping out should decrease as the amount of droop will increase. The ride height should only decrease about 1/2" And as I've been reading around the forum there is a good chance the cv boot would have be rubbing around 3" of lift decreasing life span. Although I cannot confirm this personally

In addition this what this guy said. If you are carrying weight but not 500lbs plus I took a leaf out (3rd from top) now running 6 leafs total and it rides way better empty or with gear and only sags 1” with fully loaded bed of camping gear and 14 gallons of water.

The full heavy dakar pack is for serious weight. I put 900lbs back there and it sagged 1” when I had it in, but boy was it stiff over bumps when empty.

I have an identical setup. What do you mean the shocks top out? Stock UCAs?

Total chaos ucas, almost like the front end bounces or jumps and shocks use all of their down travel.

Just installed my OME 888 with 5100's and Dakar HDs in the rear. Put Light Racing SPC UCA up front. Very happy with the looks, alignment is perfect, and the ride is great. I personally don't find it any to feel any stiffer than the stock suspension, if anything it feels a little more plush. I did the ECGS bushing and a 3 degree shim in the rear and have no vibes. Looking forward to taking it off the pavement this weekend!

Are the three degree shims a necessity for the dakars? I have the ecgs bushing fix done on my 17 off road, just wondering will i be needing shims as well when i buy my dakars?

Not sure. It was just recommended to me and the driveline angle looks pretty good with it. If you do get them, get the ones that have the hole in them and the longer center pins, not the slotted ones. They're like $35 from Wheeler's.

Hello maybe I can get some help here just installed 5100s all around w/888s, 95r dakars, and Icon UCAs as the truck sits it is a 1 1/2 inch higher in the back. Any chance this will settle down a bit I know the front will and that make me nervous that this rake will worsen. How would the 5100s ride on one notch up? Open to any opinions or options. Pic for attention!!!!!20180625_175025.jpg

IMO that looks perfect. A little rake but not over the top. Assuming you use your truck as such from time to time it won’t have a saggy ass. If it really bothers you, I would personally just put a couple sand bags in the back when you are unloaded. But I don’t understand why everyone wants their trucks to be perfectly level either.

I think it'll settle in nice, i run 887s with 5100s and the dakar HD pack, I am at 1.5-1.75'' rake, I have about 5-6000 miles on the lift, I am switching to the 888s to fix the rake a bit but still have some.

Coils will settle about 1/4"-1/2" i would estimate. Average settled height is around 2 3/4" of lift over stock. Some people remove the 3rd leaf from pack which is about 1/2" of lift from what I remember.

Anybody have experience with the Dakar leaf packs under load? I Have the HD packs. Love them when they are under load and out on trails. Curious how much the non HD Dakar’s perform under a load. I have a large RTT, gear, water, fuel for a week etc.
