I would try a center punch and a BFH and try and break it up into smaller pieces May or may not work, but that's what I'd try

I'd just beat the closest not quite fitting socket onto it and use a breaker bar..

Works for me.. But I got lots of old impact sockets..

If its that soft, the hex will beat onto whats left..

I'm not saying your suggestion wasn't a good one by any means. On the contrary, it's nearly exactly word for word of what I suggested in post #160, and bumped again in posts #165, #204 and #290. We think a like.

I don’t believe it taking it to a person to do something that I can do. I guess I’m old school.

The ones that I am less satisfied with don’t have an even surface to start a hole saw bit. And the hole have wandered off center so it is what it is at he point.

And at the end of the day you will have gained more knowledge that will come in handy down the road. Let someone else do the job and you would still be lost if it ever happened again.

Can you get down in there with die grinder bit to knock the stud top nearly flat again to get a fresh start on recentering a drill hole?

There should have never been a saw involved...Or drills..

You should have kept trying socket till you found one that wanted to start, and beat it on, and back it out..

Just beating it on alone, would have free'd the corrosion that is holding that nut on.. It not just that it's over tightened...

I'm tellin ya.. I been doin it for years..on completely round lug nuts..

    now you've ruined your stuff..

If not try the card board packing to keep the hole saw centered in the wheel without using a pilot and see if will do the job without wandering too much. It's worth a try!

From the pictures, it didn't look like there was anything to pound a socket onto. It's just the tapered shoulder left in there.

With a small enough hole saw I would have removed the pilot bit...

Maybe if you read the thread you would know there’s no corrosion. Op cross threaded these on with an impact only a few weeks ago IIRC

All I ruined was a spacer that I was trying to take off anyway. This isn’t my first day dicking with trucks.

Not cross threaded even. Just too tight. And it had only been two days.

Yeah, they are badly designed lug nuts, though in the makers' defense I suspect they never considered what would happen if that splined tower were grossly over-torqued--that done they were destined to fail at the "neck-downed" section at the base of the tower...
