I’m not worried about bothering the threads since they are coming off anyway and have been trashed during this whole ordeal anyway. Just need to get the wheel off.

@teamhypoxia beat me to the punch with the hole saw suggestion, I missed his suggestion. He gets the beer.

I was thinking if you tried driving it to snap the remaining stud, you may crack the wheel. That wouldn't be good.

That would be a great option...... but I don’t have a dye grinder here.

I think the remnants of the lug nuts would keep that from happening. I’m just talking about back and forth while I walk beside it so I can see when it starts to separate a bit and then I can jack it back up and work it off. They are just hanging on by a “thread”.

Dude, mistakes happen. That is how we learn.
More importantly, is how we undo mistakes.
That is what this thread is about.

    He's getting there. Soooooo close!

Good thought. However, he would need a center punch harder than the drill bit, but then the center punch would probably shatter as well. :frusty:

Note to self: lug nuts are not torque-to-yield :D

Good luck OP...hopefully the other wheels aren't as much of a PITA but they probably will be. If you can... you should heat the other lugs before trying to wrestle them off with your breaker bar.

When you finally get your wheels off make sure to replace ALL of the lugs studs on actual truck as I'm sure they've been stretched if you used the same impact gun to fasten the spacers to the truck!

I've busted many taps in stainless, just bust em up with a pinch and keep going. Never had a punch shatter

Worth a try. I wouldn't think the punch would be hard enough to do anything to a drill bit.

I've only done it to taps which are super hard and super brittle. I'd give it a shot not expecting a whole lot. Depends what size bit too

Do you have an air compressor on hand?
Any Harbor Freights in your location?

Air compressor, no. Unless you count a 12 volt for airing up after rides.
    Harbor Freight, yes.
