Wow a stepside. Don't see many of those. Looks good but might be better in black?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I like it. Plus the adhesive almost looks like ghost writing (in the photo anyway)

Assuming you're going to clean up the "Tacoma" residue, that looks pretty good to me.

i actually wanted it it black but forgot to mention it on the purchase. so there wasn't much i could do about it. i figured it went pretty good with the white 4X4 on the flaps. thanks for the comments!
ya not too many step-sides around at all. i like it other then the shortage in aftermarket goodies for it. ie. none makes a cap and getting a cover is difficult to say the least!

is anyone a photoshop guy? could you try a couple things on the pic?
    1:fill the white in black
2:try outlining the white lettering in black.

I'll be honest I don't like it but hey it's your truck so... I just think the TOYOTA isn't to scale basically it's it's too big and the white throws it off completely. Why not just buy another decal in black they are only $20. Just a thought.

I like it but I would agree with the other guys. I think it would look better in black. It also would probably look better if the letters were closer together.

I debadged my Sunfire Red Pearl after 11 years of owning it and the paint under the badges is darker/fresher than the rest of the paint on the truck so I have that "ghost writing effect" if you look closely. The casual look from someone who has no idea won't see it but I do every time.

I've tried convincing myself it's cool but to no avail. It's annoying to me.

^ I debadged mine two weeks ago after 7 years on being on there. I had that same "ghost effect" as you speak of. Have you tried using Rubbing Compound yet? I used that and basically just burned it off the paint with an orbital buffer.

honesty is what I'm looking for. i just figured id throw the white one on since i can't return it. I wasn't sure about how it turned out so i posted up here. personally i like the size. makes it look kinda like the 80's gates that had TOYOTA formed right into the sheet metal. thanks for the input.

i got the adhesive from the 'toyota' off using polishing compound without any trouble. i had actually left the 'Tacoma' and the 'v6' on there till i decided it looked funny off to the side like that. I'll take a couple min to clean it up tonight.

so the consensus is that the badge should be black. ya?
i would agree. the b/w doesn't quite look right.
    ordering another one tonight.
thanks goldfish for doing the P/S'ing!

I haven't gone the compound route yet. I just washed and waxed it afterwards.

    What color is your vehicle?

    (sorry for the semi-hijacking)

Honestly I don't like it, but my style is no badges/no decals. I may put one or two TRD badges on my topper somewhere but probably won't.

Looking at your truck and knowing you like the decal across the tailgate, I'd suggest trying to match it to the TRD decals you have on the rear quarter panel - black with red outline. In my opinion, that'd look the sharpest.

i thought about that too but then i have to get custom printed decals.
might be a good rout though. would look factory applied.

as for your thread-jacking.. no worries. i think if your paint has faded other then under where the decal was your up $hits creek. any amount of polishing isn't likely to get rid of the sunfire badged paint.
