That's what I keep telling everyone if you have water over the hood, you are fucked either way, electrical box with all the fuses is not meant to be submerged at all.
The fuses and wires will have galvanic corrosion over the time resulting in electrical gremlins - it's a cancer for a truck.

You just don't want to wait for 6 hours watching some TuRD guy checking every rock and walking every 10 minutes to check the line, like its going to get better
Patience my friend, got to have patience like we did for you

I think Minden is a good trail for those who at least know how to engage 4LO and have some good AT tires.

Without a challenge you don't learn and advance your skills. Where is the fun in wheeling then? It becomes no different from commuting to work :notsure:

    hahaha

Yes, there is one hill on my fav trails VMUTS. The jeeps love getting to the top. I have started going up in reverse when I go out with the wife, just for the challenge of it. Plus I love doing shit in reverse for some strange reason. She calls me crazy, I call it all a big game with no reset.

Hood has a rubber seal so if you keep moving water shouldn't actually be getting into engine and most parts are capable of getting wet just not submerged. Unless you submerge the fuse box you should actually be fine. And just do maintenance . At least once a year check all terminals, tighten and clean as needed and use dielectric grease.

Ardbeg is actually probably better for that. There's so much more bypass in ardbeg and you don't have the water issue and it's a smaller area. Just can't try and run the whole trail with 13 trucks and many newbies lol .

I agree to let new guys it just depends on the trail. I'd rather do ardbeg with newbies than Minden .Think like when we went their my first time.
Can almost drive in circles with different stuff to try and not be more than an hour away from the camp and exit vs the further you go on Minden the longer it is to get out since it has no exit. And besides black lake and southern portion or South trail plenty of space to turn around . Vs Minden there's only 2 or three spots to turn each one being 1/3 of the way.

Get to know your truck (airing down, 4lo, angles etc) in ardbeg then Minden.

The first water crossing alone in Minden can be tricky if you exit it wrong like I did you'll damage front bumper and with how deep it gets it can get people panicking.

Yes and no, the seals keep water away, but there are plenty other holes to let water in that can damage starter, radiator fan and reach fuse box as well.
Here is a good read: http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/reading/water-crossing.htm

Our trucks have a stupid front lower bumper that just sticks too far, I took exactly the same line with the 2nd gen last time and didn't touch anything.
It's just not a good design on Toyota part, they tried to increase pedestrian collision safety here with the additional plastic cones in front of a crash bar.

Only thing is you also need to be able to camp. Otherwise they're not really practical given the distance to get to them.

    And camp responsibly lol

Exactly, still going to be bad. But hopefully wont have water in the engine or a blown engine. Just water everywhere its not suppose to be minus the. Engine which is good enough for me

You really shouldn't be getting water in as long as you keep moving. So snorkel prevents you from stalling because of water

There are cases when you will get stuck, so how would you solve those cases? Water will be coming :boink:

Id recommend going with 35's. I'm on a 2 inch leveling kit and barely did any cutting

Just get duratrac. They'll have that aggressive look you want and they're great
I'm on your second set and great for winter if you don't run a dedicated winter

good choices, not sure about running those 35s tho:p

Well I'm guna order the 275 Grabber ATX's. Ratings on them are quite high. Now if they work out great, if they don't then my dad will take them for his f 150 and ill have to order a different brand through someone else. (good having contacts eh)
The 2 I was highly considering were the Duratracs and the Cooper st Maxx. I'll be using them spring, summer and fall.

Joe you find the Duratracs loud?
Peter, why did you choose the k02's instead of getting the coopers again?

I wouldn't say loud but I wouldn't say quiet either. Volume up to 15-20 and you don't hear them

All the videos I've seen on the generals was meh.
