I hear ya on that, seems like most just praise these because they need to justify the purchase. I expected more as well out of the box, unfortunately I’ll have to do some tuning on my own (switching springs and dialing in adjusters).

I should clarify, I do like the suspension and glad I have adjusters because stock is too soft. I was just hoping they would be better with stock valving. I keep hearing “butter smooth” and “cadillac ride”, well I have not had that experience, I’ll let them break in and see where that goes. I saved a lot of money on these, but maybe I should have bought from accutune and had them custom valved for the ride I want. I’m still waiting to see if I’ll need 650lb springs after these settle, with my weight I’m betting yes but I’ll wait and see.

Could also be my difference, I am running Dakar’s and they may also need some time to settle. I wish I have tried the shocks with my 3 leaf AAL before the Dakar’s but oh well. It still rides a lot better than the 5100s they replaced.

Same..'like butter' and Cadillac on my Foxes.
    Just extended, stock springs..no adjusters.

I think some of your all expectations are too much.
You want great for rock crawling, like butter over high speed whoops, great easy going street ride, with 500lbs of racks and "armor" and blah blah.. for $1500?
    ..get real guys.
Try a lowered suspension and see how difficult it is to dial them in.

    Jokers.

Wow, I am impressed. For not reading at all and then making wild assumptions, you are just spot on. Uncanny.

The only assumption here is you assumed I didn't read.
I get an 'alert' pop up every time someone starts whining about buying the wrong product and assuming that others are praising a bad product because of the cost of purchase..justification whatever.

You didn't read the other 1000 Fox posts that all love their Fox products and support those in a dilemma such as yourself. Even better if you would have done so before purchasing.

If you did read then why does nothing you wrote have any relevance to anything I did? No one is whining, this is the fox thread, there should be good and bad reviews in here. I don’t need to battle you on the internet though, you win and you’re right. I’ll spend my time with my daughter and pregnant wife, definitely more important than you.

That's their super soft valving, not the springs. Fixing the valving is the proper way to get rid of that.

I would say go for 700 springs. My buddy with a pelfrey bumper and winch was having the same issue and it got resolved with 700 springs. He is running kings 2.5's

I only have the USOffroad bumper and a superwinch with synthetic line, probably 120-130lbs on the front. I feel like 700 would be overkill for that.

Fox and King both valve their shocks too soft and valving is the correct way to fix it. Too much spring rate causes harshness on bumps and washboard.

It's the valving, it's way too soft, they re-valved mine to 70 / 80 on mine it it's still a little soft for dunes but much better.

I was pissed the first time I went to the dunes, my OME were better.

They come with street valving not off road valving.

Now I have 80 with a flutter stack / 85 rebound. The compression should be good the rebound may still be too soft, I'll know in about a week...
I had to teach myself how to re-valve shocks because no one in WI does it, so now I'm good to go...

I would say get a min of 65 compression / 75 rebound valving on these shocks to start

For hard riding 70-85 compression and 80-95 rebound...

Mine also will only lift my front 2" (to Fox's max. recommendation of 1.925" of exposed threads), not 3" like it's supposed to w/the extended travels. I guess I need springs AND re-valving. What a PITA.

    Around 55-60 / 65-70

They (B&H in MI) went up 2 steps on mine and it had 70 with a flutter valve and a version of a 80 when I pulled them a part..

Yeah, the stock spring is a 600 I had to crank them down 2 1/2 to 3", the 650 is less than 1" of thread to get 2 3/4 lift...
If you want more than a 2" lift I think the 650 works much better and just a little firmer... So far, seams better, I'll know more after the dunes...
