seems you didn't buy them preassembled then? I bought mine preassembled and they fit right in perfect and no issues.

no i already had the 5100 installed with the stock springs set at 1.1"
i used the spring compressing technique using a jack and the weight of hte truck to remove the stock spring and strut safely and compressed the new ome spring using the same technique. I havent had any problems doing that in the past...maybe the ome springs are too long to do this method, idk

I really hope someone else can chime in who installed the 887 onto the struts themselves

i dont have a picture of the coil not on the strut. I am going to remove them tomorrow and try to take them to a shop to have them use a compressor tool
idk hopefully that will give me better results

also, i am really hoping these settle quite a bit...after doing a bunch of research i thought the 887 on 5100s at lowest setting would raise a 3rd gen 2 inches...well i got almost a full 3 inches..which my 3 leaf AAL isnt going to match up with when i install it in the next day or so.

how is everyone else getting just 2 inches (which is what i was going for)

i order some spc uca last night.
might just leave the truck in the garage all jacked up tilll they arrive so i can just do everything at once..the aligment is so out of wack right now i dont even want to have to drive it to the alignment shop like this. I need to take the coilovers to a shop to see if they are able to get the springs looking right on the struts.

its like the ome 887 springs i got are too long for the 5100 3rd gen struts set at lowest setting..

I just finished and got 4". But i added 1/2" top plate spacers which equal and extra inch. I assume they will settle to 3"
    Yours sounds about right.
Mine looks sick and test drove even better.
Only thing im worried about is my cv angles.
    Dakars go on tomorrow.20180620_220840.jpg

Lol at your CV. No biggie if you wheel, you'll grenade the actual CV before the fins run through.

You can do the boot slide mode to help separate the fins. Your lift will also settle some which will help it out.

I did 5100s with 887s last week. It was around 3 inches the date of install, but it has settled quite a bit (thankfully) to an average lift of 2.1 inches. All my angles look good so far and the guy said the alignment wasn’t too tough. So far so good on the needle bearing, but I’m just waiting to feel the rumble...94A7AFDA-7F37-49F6-B6C6-E0E553FCC564.jpg

I did not. I saw I had like a 50/50 chance and figured I’d give it a go. Took it in today for retorque after about 800 miles and they said everything looks just like it should. No problems so far

I put a dif drop in cuz my cv angles are bad, i need to deal with that. Might take the top plates out if it doesnt settle an inch
I have the ecgs bushing but didnt install it yet cuz it was just me and another set of hands would be better.
Took it for a spin and no sign of any vibes yet
Sits a tiny bit high in the back.

To be completely honest, I don’t recall exactly. But I remember looking and not being shocked when I picked it up. Here is their current state...

The truck isn’t on perfectly level ground at the moment though. Passenger side is very slightly elevated
