Mudflap laws in BC

    Does anyone know if it's ok to remove the front flaps in BC? I have found info to show that the rear are mandatory, but can't confirm on the front. Anyone know?

    2009 Tacoma SR5 Too many to list, but its a SR5 with a TRD Sport Heart
    I have been back and forth to Invermere, BC almost every weekend in the winter for 2 years without mud flaps (front or rear) and I have never had an issue. Now that I do have a full set of rears I will be putting them back on for on road use, and will be trying to figure out a good way to keep them on the truck on the trails.

    Another question for you BC boys, in regards to after market driving lights, I have heard that they need to be covered on highways in BC, is this legit or total bs?

    I believe that is legit, they need to be covered.

    I've also had my front muflaps off for a year and no problems yet.

    You should just trim them. They may suck but they really help with keeping rocks away from paint.

    I agree , trim first , if you still don't like em you can rip them off . Less rocks pinging off the paint .

    yes i do agree i was a little upset at them it sounded horrible them bending dragging on every little thing. i fixed that just turn up the tunes.you guys have all the answers thats why i joined tw i think i will trim thanx

    The only thing I could find in the BC Motor Vehicle Act Regulations regarding mudflaps is:

    Mudguards 7.06 Every motor vehicle, trailer and semitrailer not constructed so that the spray and splash of water and mud to the rear of the vehicle is minimized shall be equipped with mudguards and, if necessary, mudflaps.

    I went ahead and removed the front ones not long after my original post. I have not had any problems and it would appear from the above that front flaps should not ever be required unless the front wheels are spraying past the rear of the vehicle.

    A quick look around at the rest of the trucks on the road in my town and it would seem that noone really gives a hoot about rear flaps either, but I'm happy to keep the rears on.
