The people with kids I can understand; My buddy and his wife practically cram their entire house into the truck when they come visiting with their progeny. But the rest of them? :der:

And this is coming from somebody who DOES travel equipped for the possibility of an unexpected walk back home.

I try to keep a backpacking mentality even when car camping. I load up my internal frame pack, then allocate basically a 40qt cooler for food and my Coleman stove and good to go.

I do carry slightly more gear than that when I'm car camping, like a camp chair and an actual coffee maker instead of just a pot for boiling water. I also bring actual water, instead of just a canteen/thermos and a pump filter. And usually a real lantern or my fancy solar lighting kit, instead of just my UCO candle lantern, lol.

But that still usually limits my packing to sleeping gear, a tent (if not sleeping in the truck bed) a cooler for food, tarp, stove, lantern, 1 pot, 1 pan, 1 coffee maker, a folding chair, & food/water.

For this trip I AM planning on bringing my 'yak and fishing gear, though.

    Heat shrink fail.

Or @Blais03 has one in east Hampton and he needs it badly. Anyone throw a member a bone?

I will look in my garage when I get home later. I may have a take-off full assembly from 2010 4x4. I had changed both when one went bad and think I kept the other one. If nothing else it can get them through the trip. I won't know for a couple hours though.

If you don’t mind bringing it if you have one. We might have someone able to drop by nicks house to grab it but we are in and out of service.
