Its time once again for one of the sickest race on the planet the Tecate/ SCORE Baja 500!! I will be attending once again with my dad and uncles. I would like to set up a big Tacoma World trip down there. I know some of you were planning on going anyway so let's all go together!!!

What: attend Tecate / SCORE BAJA 500 Desert Race

When: Friday June 4th-Sunday June 6th

Where: Ensenada, mx / ojos negros(about 45min south of ensenada)

Who: anyone and everyone can go!!!

Price: unlike all motor sports events in the US this race is completely open for everyone to see free of admission!
You will need to bring your own food drinks and gas!

Itinerary: Friday June 4th, 10am: meet at tbd. Spot and head down to ensenada takes about an hour and a half to get there. Arrive in ensenda and enjoy the prerace festivities which include contingency / tech inspection full of vendors drinks food music and all the race cars and bikes being paraded through. Around 4pm head out of ensenada and into Ojos Negros about 45 minutes to an hour away from ensenada I think we will be at race mile 30 or so. This is a good place to see the race because. Its about the only place where we can see them as they head south at the start of the race and. As the come back north towards the finish..
We will find a spot near the race course and set up camp tents and sleeping bags required!!! Barbe que some chow and drink up the rest of the night.
Saturday June 5th: Race Day!! Motorcycles and quads start at 6am will be at our spot around 630am. Trucks and buggies at 9am. Will be at our spot around 930 see cars go by for about 2 hours then we enjoy some beer and food till they start coming back prob. Around 4pm. They keep coming back all night...

Sunday: wake up pack it up and head home..

Safety: I know mexico is a red flag for everyone however it's only Tijuana that you need to worry about. We will drive past it on the toll road which runs along the border. Also during the race there is extra security everywhere. Even the remote area where we would stay is patrolled by the federales and military.. As long as we stay together we will be fine.
Not to mention also that my uncles know the mayors of tj and ensenada and the police chief! We can also get a race escort. They offer group escorts from the border down to ensenada..

It will be a lot of fun hopefully a lot of you are down!!! Post up any questions or if your down!

Speed is the name of the game, and that often gets you over stuff that normally requires 4WD. Off Road racers have suspension to travel at speed without breaking things... the cost of the suspension can be greater than a Tacoma! There is a 4WD class (3), but not nearly as popular as in years past. Some other classses allow 4WD or AWD, but most are not.

Edit for you: the cost of the suspension can be is greater than a Tacoma

Also, many classes allow 4wd but most of the vehicles don't run it. It adds weight, CV angles restrict wheel travel, and it's just more stuff to break.

No time. I'm still doing the mad rush to prep my Tacoma to race in the Primm 300 this year.

Have to do better than my pathetic showing at the 2009 race!
