Same here, I will never ride on the street, a friend of mine lost his leg do to a guy running a red light and made a right turn in front of him. He didn't fly over the car as he laid it down and his body slammed into the car doing about 50 mph, crushed his whole right side, face, ribs, arm, pelvis, leg, and ankle. after many surgery's they had to amputate his right leg below the knee. He was lucky to survive it with little brain damage. took him a yr to learn to talk again.

Yeah it is scary shiet dude... Specially with everybody texting and driving these days it's much more dangerous than it used to be 10 years ago. Couple months ago I got into a fender bender on 880 and this girl was texting and driving and traffic in front of her stopped and she didn't realize till it was too late and the whole time I was looking in my rearview mirror and was like oh shit she's going to hit me she's going to hit me and then bammmm.

I ate shit doing an incorrect wheelie on my brand new gsxr600 3 months after buying it. Does that count for stupid people? Road rash up the ass. Literally ......

Fix my bike up (3k worth of damage) and im riding to my buddies. I see a car on the shoulder and think to myself "this fucker is gonna pull out" (insert gay joke, yea yea) as i approach he busts a U turn. I go down hard before i could t-bone him. I got up cursing like a sailor. Motherfucker didnt even speak english. Told him to split before i kicked his ass. Luckily my bike had a mild cage at that point. Bike had no damage. I fucked up my new pants, busted my knee, and ruined my new Jordans. Lol.

I became a very good driver after that. Gave her up while we were in the hospital having izzy. Not gonna let this little shit grow up without a father. I can ride later in life.

Otis, glad your healing up brother. I didnt realize how severe your accident was

I got t-boned on one of my bikes...by a guy who ran a red light...in a stolen car...and he ran and left me on the hood for dead. Head first into the windshield.

The story is actually far more gruesome but I haven’t had coffee (or whiskey)...yet.

Well here's the side where I got hit. The dent in the gas tank is from my leg. You might notice the foot peg is missing. That's because it broke off so the only thing between the car that hit me and the bike...was my leg. Snapped my ankle like a twig and left my tibia sticking out through my sock.

    PIC00007.jpg

Road rashed the other side and bent the frame and subframe.

Any moving vehicle out there has the potential of having an idiot at the controls (does not imply control, though) so there's a some very good reasons defensive driving was stressed in DE. I rode some with friends up on the Toodle River after St Helens but never on the street. Owning one would have sent my Md Dad to an early grave. And while I've gone ass over teakettle numerous times mountain biking those bumps/bruises were generally minor and of my own making, comparable to skiing yard sales. I'd much rather risk my life say, climbing a cliff, than have others risk it for me.

Literally knocked out of my shoes. They found one of them under the car and the other across the street. My watch broke off too and never found. Had a hole in my helmet and all the foam was broke.
All in all my body wasn't too bad considering what happened. One screw in my ankle and a dozen staples, concussion, and herniated my L5-S1 disk (which I also had surgery for a couple years later).

More shit then I ever planned on doing
I got hit in the Caldecott Tunnel doing 35-40mph. Still not sure how in the fuck he didn’t see or hear me (full Yoshi exhaust in a tunnel) cuz we were going the same speed and my pipe was right next to his drivers window when he changed lanes into me.

Hit my head so hard on the pavement my helmet cracked. Took me a second to realize what just happen as I was getting up. Went right up to his door and put my fist right through his window and grabbed him by his fucken throat. He told the motorcycle cop I broke his window And assaulted him. Cop mumble “you’re lucky that’s all he did to you”

@jberry813 beat the ever loving snot out of his F5s on this 1st gen, nary a failure or issue of any type. I think we can end on that note.

Or, I could go on. When I received mine I bench inspected them very closely. I found a couple very subtle areas on the back interior around the circumference edge where it looked as though some material had been shaved/machined down very minimally (yet the finish was impeccable). I tagged these spots with blue tape, and when I took them in to have my tires mounted, I showed them these and said spin these on the balancer before mounting the tires to see if they are OK or defective.

    Result: perfectly balanced.

EDIT: I was also considering some Konig Countersteers initially.

    But, failures
