I can appreciate the aesthetic somewhat, but I'm definitely a function over form type guy. Did you see some TC long travel lowers come up for sale or were you just thinking about doing it if it would work? I get the idea - you could save some money if it worked. Afaik TC would only sell lowers to someone that already has their kit and needs a replacement. What are your plans for the truck?

Well funny thing is i seen lower control arms just the Lower ones being sold separately for 1600 but idk if it was possible to use two diff A-Arms but instead i'll just full LT by TC because as i saw it'll look funny to use one stock length & one non stock length which is weird because i thought the JBA's were way larger/longer then it to be the same as stock length

As i changed all my fluids to Mobil 1 Syn, I noted the Mobil 1 filter says 20k or 1 year. I’ve never not changed and oil filter when doing the oil, but maybe I’ll start every other. :) I’ve usually changed oil (conventional) about every 5-6k (or more if I’m lazy).

    Yeah, I could do that.

But the whole reason I ended up buying this piece of shit was to restore it. Kind of goes against my moral compass to cover up a problem when I could spend the time to fix it.

A street truck with a flat bed. Hmm.

If it was on a stock height 6-lug, sure. But I think flat beds on 5-lugs just look odd.

And with the prices of steel right now, I’d be insane if I made a flatbed for that thing.

hahaha - that looks like the “glue” that holds everything together! :D

Not sure if this is too true about Tacomas, as much as full size trucks, but here in the salt belt there are usually lots with truck beds for sale from the south as companies remove the beds to put on utility or flat beds for their fleets. Not sure on prices, but I’d almost think that “glue” is preserving everything underneath it! :D

There's a lowered toyota pickup with a blue single cab and dark stained wood flat bed around my work campus, I'll have to grab a pic. Thing looks so good.

That sound nice. When I think flat bed, the overland-solid diamond plated steel type comes to mind. A stained wood flatbed, on the other hand, that sounds unique.

That's what I was stating, not the full metal flatbed that crawlers typically use

So I'm taking my brake calipers off tomorrow to get them replaced. What's the best way to stop from draining the brake fluid out? I've got SS lines so would just clamping them work the best?
