What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Just let em drain, you’re going to have to flush and bleed your new calipers anyway.

 

Well yes but I don't want to get air into the system now

 

Youll have to bleed them right away and flushing the system isnt a bad idea either

 

Thinking about doing the tundra brake mod next week. What all do I need for it?

 

Calipers, pads and rotors. I used parts from a 2002 Tundra 4x4 v8
A way to trim the backing plate a little. Dremel for example.
That's the minimum.

 

Don't we need something for the brake line

 

The banjo bolts

 

I’ve done brakes a couple times and I’ve never clamped the lines off. I just bleed them when I put the calipers back on and it achieves the same results.

 

If you want to re-use your stock Tacoma lines you have to drill out the Banjo bolt. Or you can do it the way I did and use the LCW kit which comes with new Tundra flared end hard lines.

You can also buy the SS lines with the banjo from wheelers with the correct length.

 

I'll see if it's around today at lunch, looks a helluva lot nicer than that one.

Here is the LC Engineering kit, I prefer this one because it uses the hard line, flared end fittings that the Tundra uses stock.

Here’s the Wheelers kit which is much cheaper, but still retains the original banjo bolt design albeit being the correct length. (I think this is the right one)

It could have a lumber rack and a few shovels, a lawn mower, and a leaf blower and call it "Garden Hoes" with airbrushed bikini chicks doing yard work on the doors and hood - I'm feeling it now.

 

That or call it dirty grandpa and leave it as is

There is no cutting involved.
It is .5-1.5 hr install depending on how particular you are about your body spacing and if you find the right instillation video. The provided instructions are garbage. I was using a 4runner install video and just ignored the cutting part. Just make sure you use the frame extenders provided in the kit (not used on 4runner install).
