I'd do the ipt if I could. Nobody In my area knows jack squat about these transmissions.

I wish I could find the secrets to having it built right. I have a shop that will do it. They're just dumb. I'd have to draw it out in crayon or something.

Same here. I live in the Big 3 "American" auto country and so there's not a lot of shop's who do aftermarket work on Tacomas or know anything about them. On top of that, none of my nearest Toyota dealers had ever even seen a supercharged Tacoma until I brought mine in - 1st and 2nd Gen.

If I recall correctly, there is a YouTube video on the IPT install. You can do it yourself.

Yup, they changed a few worn parts in my valve body when they did it. The guy showed everything to me and explained it all, but I don’t remember the details now.

As far as swapping the VB, it was easy. That video is very thorough.

He also told me to go ahead and throw an extra quart of ATF in after I got the level correct. Apparently, there’s a lot of space in the pan before there is a foaming problem.

If you’re just swapping valve bodies, that’s the easy part.

Taking the valve body apart to install a shift kit is where there are lots of opportunities for screw-ups.

Ask me about that time I installed a shift kit and ended up with no 5th gear when I was finished. :anonymous:

Damn. So I guess you have a valid reason to buy a lift for your place.

A manual trans in Seattle traffic would be as much fun as using sandpaper on a lions ass while wearing pork chop boxers. That and I have bad knees.
