@kalieaire , I opened the tent from the inside last night. SO MUCH EASIER!

Also, Paul from Equipt called me yesterday and apologized for not filling me in on the proper form for opening the Habitat. Hate to say it though, even if he had told me this would have probably happened at least once. Good learning experience, now i'll DEFINITELY be more careful. Oh, and AT is sending me a replacement, should have that soon.

Last night I added in my new rear suspension (Deavers and Bilsteins). Next comes my Fridge Platform / Battery box. Hopefully the rest of my electrical and such gets here quick

    lol yeah,

I've been saying that for over a year now in all the habitat threads, but nobody listens. :notsure: Glad it worked out for you too. The other tip is for folks with a swing out. I climb up on top of my jerry can carrier and use my body weight, all 170lbs to partially close the hatch. Then carefully I lean over the edge and close the rubber latches. This doesn't work if it's windy because I might die, but works in a majority of the trips.

What is the "hatch" you are talking about?

Do you mean the cantilevered sleeping platform?

Anybody in here going to head to the NW Overland Rally up in Plain, Washington at the end of the month? Not sure if any of you are local to the WA area.

AND ANOTHER QUESTION: What length quick-grip clamp is best for habitat closure? The link down at the bottom of the page opens to an 18 inch one, but i've read about people buying all the way up to a 36 inch one. That seems huge and unnecessary. So yeah, What's the sweet spot?

    Headed up to oregon

The one I use opens to 13" and is perfect... bigger would work just fine, just bigger to pack.

Did you just reach out to Goose Gear and ask them to help you figure out your dual battery/water tank needs?

I was actually impressed with how well the jigsaw handled the 1/4" aluminum. Very clean cut overall, but I did run a flat file over them just to make sure the edges aren't sharp.

Gotcha, what are you planning on using the crossbars for? Ski/ snowboards? Kayaks? Bikes?

L track is amazing, with some simple square tube brackets and l track studs, im sure you could adapt any name brand crossbars if thats what your going for... I was thinking about doing some simple 1/4'' aluminum flat stock across to keep stuff from chaffing the roof.

Yeah L-track is great...just want for tying surfboard/snowboard bags down on the roof and trying to keep them off the Habitat itself. I was thinking something similar...running 3 pieces of aluminum flat bar across the top and attaching them by drilling holes and using something like this (https://www.cargoequipmentcorp.com/Double-Lug-Threaded-Stud-Fitting-For-L-Track) to secure them to the L-track

Was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas/had done something similar already. Just thought AT charging $800 for the roof rack was ridiculous.

Come on now... 800 is only like 9percent of the cost of your habitat, haha. I agree and roof racks are a costly item when paired with the word Overland. Hope I dont hurt anyone feelings with that statement.

3rd gen Tacoma’s with Prinsu rack. How much needs cut down to get it low enough to be good clearance?
