So I was talking to an old timer today cause I like to listen to their stories and such. Some how we ended up talking about the mountain and I told him how much time I spent up in the mountains walking and stuff and he asked me if I’d ever seen any trail markers for old Spanish gold mines.

I honestly had no idea what he was talking about so I asked if I could see a picture of one or something, cause I guess he has spent some time looking for these mines.

The pictures he showed me pretty much looked identical to these to markings/ drawings I’ve found up messing around.

These are probably over 80 miles apart and one of thems Atleast 4 miles from the closest 2 track underneath a rock ledge.

Made me wonder if they’re the real deal or wtf.

Come to the boonies of California. It's full of abandoned gold mines, mineshafts, and mineral tunnels.

My uncles old house in Arizona had a abandon silver mine and a half buried railroad cart from the cold war era that someone used as a bomb shelter

I-5 is littered with them. Especially the Barstow area.

I used to go Geocaching a lot, and on road trips I'd find a couple that are at a base of a sealed off mineshaft or old mining operation.

That's because they're sealed well, or they just blend in with the sand. An abandoned mineshaft will not look obvious at all for obvious reasons.

They're very non-descript. They appear as holes in the mountainsides or holes covered in dry rotted wood planks in the ground.

Haven't paid much attention to this for years now, happened across this article on Hunters Point and the old naval shipyards while looking for abandoned mines on google o_O

    http://www.businessinsider.com/san-francisco-shipyard-has-dark-past-2017-12

From 1948 to 1969, it hosted a then-secret laboratory that ran tests on ships exposed to nuclear weapons and researched the effects of radiation on animals.

    Damn.

Why do you think Treasure Island is still 90% abandoned and has no plans for development?

It’s radioactive. When ships came back from WWII and docked there, they had traces of radioactivity from the atomic arsenal used in the Pacific Theatre.

Treasure Island definitely has a treasure of its own... :annoyed:

oh and this didn't surprise me

At least one ship that was used as a toxic-waste dump and a test lab for decontamination studies was weighed down and sunk off the coast of San Francisco in the 1950s.
