Is this filter easily cleaned or do I need to spend the $50 for a new one?
About to drop the pan & change fluid as well as a new gasket for the pan. The filter seems to be pretty durable but I don't want to screw it up & have to do this again. Truck has 85K miles. Thanks.

It's pretty simple. Its just a mesh screen. Some simple green should clean it right up. I dont recommend brake cleaner cause its known to eat plastic and ruin rubber seals. But a good dowsing with some degreaser and a rinse will clean it no problem. FWIW I just replace it for peace of mind.

    Just replace it.

It's been 6yrs and 85k. These transmissions are basically bulletproof. It's worth 50 bucks for a new filter ..
