I might have pulled the trigger yesterday. I couldn't make up my mind between a steel ATH or aluminum Pelfrey. I even put a deposit down on ATH a week ago but upon second thought(s) there's no way I want to put up with all that extra weight on my DD when the ride is already so rough.

You won’t be disappointed my friend. Pelfrybilt customer service alone is reason enough to go with them.

Hey Ryan, question for you regarding the bed sleeper: Did you go with 3/4" plywood? And what would you have done differently looking back at it all? I'm curious, because this is my next undertaking. I just picked up my camper shell and I would love to do a setup like you had. Thanks!

Haha funny you mention this as I’m selling my bed platform right now. I did go with 3/4 inch plywood because I wanted it to be beefy and not worry about breaking anything. It’s really solid stuff so I liked that. I think if I did it again I would have sealed all the wood before I wrapped it in the fabric. I ended up getting a little mold growing on it which wouldn’t have happened if I had sealed it. For me though, I decided to go another route. My camper shell is only cab high so with the platform when I’m sleeping in there it’s like a coffin haha I can’t sit up at all, I can only barely lean up on an elbow and it makes doing anything in there besides just sleeping a challenge. I’ve decided to try something else and use my roof box to store stuff I normally would have underneath. Feel free to ask any more specific questions, happy to help.

Do you have any Plans that you used or do you have plans that you used for the cuts? Im thinking im going to go this route and I wanted to do it right the first time. I planned to seal the wood for sure, especially living in the SE CONUS.
And did you do the cloth yourself?

I didn’t have any plans besides an idea in my head honestly. I could measure it and give you that but unless you have a bed rug it’ll probably be slightly off and be a bit loose. The whole thing fits together and stays put via the tension of the center board against the two side pieces. I would just do it yourself and go for it. If nothing else you’ll get something that’ll probably work and you’ll learn a ton from it.

Love your truck! looking into getting the same wheel/tire combo on my tacoma. Did you run into any rubbing problems after switching from stock wheels to the 3.5 backspace F5's?

Nope. With the 255/85’s I had zero issues. Now that I’m fitting 35’s....there are issues haha

@Pelfreybilt , 100%. I had a DO in the past and I am a million times happier with the product, company, and customer service of Pelfrey.

9C1A01AC-B63A-416F-AC72-3BC45F5CF2FB.jpg So I finally tore an inner cv boot. Decided to go with CVJ Axles and went with their purpose built boots for Tacoma lifts. Pretty happy with it so far.

The inner boot of my driver side has just torn as well. How hard was it to swap the boot out? I've never done it before, and have read that it's just easier to swap the whole axle.

I swapped the entire axle out. It wasn’t that much more. I got a rebuilt OEM axle with the upgraded boot from CVJ. Install was relatively straight forward. You’ll get a hundred bucks back for your old core when you send it in

Finally made the jump and cut the fenders to fit the 35’s. Really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I taped it out and measured 2” and started getting after it with a sheet metal nibbler. Worked pretty well. The nibbler did kind of tweak some of the thin sheet metal in spots but with the flares back on you’ll never notice it. Added some hefty weather stripping to protect it as well. Just need to cut up the flares and drill them into the fenders...then I can flex it all out and realize I still rub haha

Haha I was going to wait until I had it all done but oh well. Still need to trim the rear fenders and flares...looks kinda silly with the fronts done and the rears not.

So far no rubbing at all on street and minor flex. Doing the WA BDR over the week of the 4th so I’m sure I’ll have some spots to work on when I get done with that. Overall very surprised at how well it still drives. Minor noise increase, barely noticeable power loss with the 6 speed manual, and it actually drives a bit more comfortably with the 35’s. Very happy with the MT01’s so far.

09F4E9F9-CB2D-4B67-B6DF-31C7200E348E.jpg Also ripped out the rear seat backs finally. Significantly more room in the access cab. Once I build a flat platform in the back I’ll look into sound deadening and making it look a little nicer. For now practicality wins.

Awesome! Shaping into one of the baddest access cabs out there  Pelfrey's front bumper looks absolutely perfect proportionality wise with 35's. It's been 7 weeks so I should be getting tracking info this week for mine. Will you have to trim the rear bumper at all?

I'm really liking the seats pulled, too. Looking forward to seeing what you do with that space.

Got the rear fenders and flares cut up and thrown on today. Talk about a ton of work though...35’s don’t come easy.

BA! Will the rear tire contact the high clearance bumper at full stuff?
