these are direct replacement OEM ceramic pad kit with new shims and grease package, the $70 pads are the semi-metallic OEM pads. the ceramic work great no dust at all and the kit comes with everything u need for a great price and are made in the USA, got them on my truck.

ok, I'm not a mechanic but what is the difference between the OEM ceramic pads and the OEM semi-metallic?......I don't really care about brake dust because my rims are black.....but I want something that is easy to break in so I don't have the same problem with the TRD pads that I already have.....

Do you tow or haul any? Just wondering how the ceramics do if you get them hot towing?

the difference is the compounds used in the brake pad itself, https://www.bridgestonetire.com/tread-and-trend/drivers-ed/ceramic-vs-metallic-brake-pads

no I don't tow anything but use the truck as a daily driver/weekend warrior, when I initially bought the truck it had the oem factory semi metallic pads and I can tell u the stopping performance with the ceramic pads is almost identical with a very slightest edge to semi metallic when stopping, I would use the semi metallic if I was hauling trailers/heavy loads, otherwise the ceramics in my opinion are more than adequate for regular use. from the performance and quality and value I will be using the oem ceramics from now on, the oem semi metallics are over priced and over rated for regular everyday usage IMO. also the semi metallic put more wear and tear on the rotors due to their metallic compounds and ceramics don't.

Just wanna say thanks again @crashnburn80 for writing this up. I've used it a few times to teach people about how drilled rotors are bad. I myself had no idea until I read this thread.

Shop by googling the part number, makes finding exactly what you are looking for much easier.

Its your rotors. They're probably defective. I do understand Stoptech has a pretty big name but their sister company is centric. They are excellent OEM aftermarket replacement for the price but from what I can tell by the stoptech slotted rotor finish, they just look like Centric Premium 120 series rotors that just been put on a mill to be mass produce and slotted and sold off as stoptech rotors. I have had defective centric premium 120 series rotors warped right out of the box before. But to give credit to Centric/Stoptech they do have one of the lowest defect rates in the industry for aftermarket brake components. For our Tacoma, the factory rotors are always going to be the best.

IMO, if you want the best brake performance, the best thing you can do is upgrade to the TRD brake pads as suggested on this thread, have the OEM rotors resurfaced, stainless steel brake lines, flush the brake system, clean and minimal adjustment on the rear brakes, buy high quality tires, and make sure your shocks are good or even replace them if you have 100k plus on the shocks. If you're offroading a lot on OEM shocks they can be replaced earlier.

Cross check on a different site. Note Amazon shows them as fitting.

Many of those sites ‘fitment wizards’ may not lift all the models it is applicable to, such as list it under 4runner but not Tacoma.

Nice, im just going to get the ones you mentioned in original post. No reason not too. OEM pads about toast, rotors still life. But want everything you mentioned about your upgrade.

See the photos of the TRD instructions for pad break in, in the original post.

If you cannot do the fast break in, then you need to do the slow alterate break in. See the printed instructions in the post, you cannot treat them like normal brakes during break in.
