Most good mechanics will tell you to always buy OEM rotors and pads. I have to agree with them. Most vehicles I have. Owned, the factory brakes go for 75k miles. And every time I switch to aftermarket I’m lucky to get 25k before they turn to shit and start to shake. And I have used stoptech and EBC.

OP you may have legitimately warped rotors, depending how it was previously driven by the previous owner, however, I have found over the years that our rotors are sufficiently large enough to provide ample braking power without overheating or warping under normal usage.

You may want to have the front wheels removed, or do it yourself, and take a wire brush to the rotor hats. It is highly likely you have developed a layer of rust which is now providing an uneven mating surface to the wheel. If I recall correctly, around your mileage was when vibrations under braking started for me on my truck with original equipment pads and rotors in place.

I have had good success over the years with my own truck doing what I described above, but I no longer have a need to do it anymore because I use billet aluminum wheel spacers, so I no longer get vibrations at braking.

This right here. He is not wrong at all.

Yeah it's usually because labor costs. Aftermarket rotors are ~$20, OEM are ~$60, and shop labor is usually more. Turning down a rotor takes time. It's easy to do, but it just takes time to do it right.

And then you get the customers that hear "turning down" and assume it is some magical process that rejuvenates totally annihilated rotors and you cringe a little when you hear the phrase "turn them down" because you have a good chance of seeing this:

"Are you SURE you can't turn it down?!?!?"

make sure the front struts aren't leaking and are serviceable, having leaking struts will effect the braking performance too

If you do any offroading I'd avoid slotted/drilled rotors unless you have the time to properly clean and maintain them. The slots love to hold stones and mud causing horrendous noises.

I did a pad slap with the Hawk Super Duty pads around 15k because I run oversized tires and tow a trailer somewhat frequently. Huge difference in stopping power and almost no brake fade with just these pads. Down side would be a slight increase in brake dust.

I always thought resurfacing will make the rotors very thin but good to know.
    Thanks.

I’ve actually done a brake job on one like that! The owner was a real mental case and was pissed about the cost of his repair job until I showed him his rotors. o_O

That's a great excuse but I told them I will be getting the job done at certified mechanic and will be filing the dispute in the court. Usually this trick works but this time didn't.:argue:

In fact they should be responsible for rotors, if not for pads. I've owned german vehicles like bmw or vw. Never ever had warped rotors on them specially on bmws. They install some pretty damn hard metal on them. I've out on 200k plus miles with same OEM rototrs and they work just fine.
I'm a professional driver. So you can guess how I drive this tacoma. And still warped. Rotors on the vehicle should be able to bear the heat In my opinion.
