I'm sure someone has seen or done this. I found this box and was wondering if anyone has this box and how it fit in their truck?
    https://www.soundoffaudio.com/item.cfm/id/2331
I'm looking to put this behind my rear seats and want to make sure it's going to fit and everything before I buy it. I definetly want to make sure my seats will close without problems.

How they charge that much for the box I'll never know. That thing looks like a nightmare to build. Props to them for being a cost effective solution for you guys.

Haven't used it, but SuperCrewsound.com also has this box, appears to be the same picture anyway. Soundoffaudio is about $20 cheaper shipped though.

I was considering using this box, but was going to cut the passenger side sub box off, then fit the remaining box and amp rack to the passenger side.

Ahhh, you're not paying attention. :) Both sub boxes are independently sealed, with the amp rack in the middle. I will cut off the passenger side sub box, leaving the driver side box and amp rack as one piece. Then finish the amp rack side (as sub box was cut from that end) and place it behind the passenger side seat. This places the sub in the middle, with the amp rack on the far passenger side.

If all this works I could finish off the cut off sub box and re-sell it.

^^that seems like alot of trouble. I cant see the website at work but how much does it cost?

why not talk with Mr. Marv about building the box you want so that you dont have to mess with anything other that wiring up the system?

To some extent, it is additional trouble, but the reality is that cutting off one side, then adding some paint/carpet to the rough edge is not that big of a deal. The box from Soundoffaudio is about $145 shipped, from Supercrewsound, it's $164 shipped.

I did talk to Mr Marv about it, and the cost for him to make a box like I want is almost twice as much. Granted it would most likely be a better built box to my exact specs, but I figure if I buy the other box, modify it, then finish off both sides of the cut off sub box, then I can resell the cut-off box and recoup some costs.

Since I don't leave the seats down, I'm not too concerned about how it looks, mostly that it does what I want (you should see what my 8" L7 and small truck box look like now :). My precision woodworking skills suck, but I can make a reasonably straight cut.

At first neither did I, but I did call Supercrewsound to verify dimensions and seperate boxes on each end.

To the OP, sorry for the thread jack.

I have not heard of anyone who has this box in a Tacoma. I know of other trucks that have supercrewsounds boxes in their trucks though with no problems.

But the spec box would have pretty much the exact measurements of the custom. For my use anyway.

No worries Lurkin, I actually found about the same box for about 10 bucks cheaper and ordered that. I'll let you guys know how it turns out, I plan on getting it all done tomorrow hopefully!

Got it all done and I'm really liking it. Here are some pics of the finished product. It's definetly a tight fit, couldn't fit the amp with the box so I had to put it under the passenger front seat.

Looks good. How did they deliver it? UPS, trucking company, other?

Why couldn't you fit the amp in that spot?

Can you comment on the quality of the box? MDF thickness, how it's sealed, does it appear well put together.

Like I said above, I'd like to lop that passenger side box off and move the rest all over behind the passenger seat. Does it look like the box can take that lop-off?

UPS delivered it in about three days, and the amp would fit but not with all the wiring. The quality is very good it's made very well. It weighs 48 pounds so it's not some cheap wood. I didn't even have to screw it to the back of the cab. (I heard it may make vibrations but doesn't) This one has a depth of 5 inches which was enough for me, I put in two JL 10W1v2-4 and they sound awesome and have a very big sound for 10s. I had two twelves in a car and I like these JLs just as much.

Now as for taking the passenger side off I don't see that happening unless you just saw it off or something. It's definetly made as one box. I know that ********* makes enclosures for one side if that's what you're looking for. I would't suggest this box for just one side.

Thanks for the info, just what I was looking for. As far as removing the passenger side sub box, yes, I would saw it off at the joint between the box and amp rack, as what I want is a box and amp rack together behind just the passenger seat. No one makes a box like this, except for custom (Mr.Marv) which just about doubles the cost.

Anyway, if I actually do pursue my method, I'll update this thread. Thanks again for following up.

No problem at all, I hope it helped. I payed 136 after shipping and handeling so probably a better deal than paying Mr. Marv twice as much as you said.
