1/4" carriage bolts will fit in the cross rails. Just drill a couple holes and bolt it down. The other way is 2" square U bolts, and again, just drill a couple holes and bolt it down.

    I used 1/4-20 carriage bolts.
Bolt head fits in the rails, threads up.
    Drill through bottom of case.
Bolt goes through, hardware is now on inside.

I went overkill and used 10 bolts per case.

True. But those cases never moved a bit once torqued down.

1/4" carriage bolts are much cheaper and would accomplish essentially the same thing.

edit: didn't realize it was a pack of 10. So maybe not necessarily cheaper, but still seems like a more complicated way of achieving the same thing

I think these types of nuts might make putting hte case on/off slightly faster/easier. No need to disconnect the crossbar to feed the carriage bolt in or out. I'd still have to buy bolts to feed down into this nut, so I probably agree, slightly more expensive for a few moments of my life back.

I don't even know what I'm going to put in the case (ha). I do know that my truck won't fit in my garage with the case on the prinsu, so I'm just trying to think of easy ways to be able to throw it on or take it off.

Have you seen this? I came across it and it seems like a solid idea for a quick disconnect.

Another alternative is buying two extra cross bars. Then when it's time to take off the plano, just completely disconnect the two bars and put two other bars in their place.

Hey guys! So who runs an RTT with the Prinsu? I'm looking to get one but not sure how to mount my RTT to this rack. Thanks in advance!

Will be placing my order soon, but just noticed on the Prinsu site that the uncoated option is gone. Are powdercoated and black bars the only option?

I wanted clear anodized bars since they'll get all scratched up anyways and planned on using my local powdercoater for the side pieces.

Also, those with a late 2nd gen with the sharkfin... Did you need the 1x1 crossbar or did the 2x1 fit? Hard to find pics at the right angle but it looks like most can run the 2x1 option.

If you are okay with a little added height (like 1”) get the front runner rtt mounts. Make it easy to take the tent on and off

For my RTT, I keep two extra crossbars mounted to the tent all the time. When I want to mount or unmount it, I just remove the 8 bolts that thread into the side rail of the roof rack. Takes maybe 2 minutes tops from lifting it into place, securing the tent and driving off.

No reaching your hands into tight spaces, busted knuckles etc.

Is this a bad deal? Took a little over a week to ship. But I got it.

It's a great deal. $200 less than most places and shipping usually takes a few weeks.
