I could be like Volks and offer fully forged wheel or even make them 2/3pc forged wheels. Price them real high since we all know machining and production for this type of method jumps drastically compared to cast wheels. This would accomplish two things. One, make them more exclusive since I'm pricing out the majority of Toyota truck owners. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it being a "fad" thing since very few truck guys would even think of spending $3000-$4000 just for a set of wheels. Two, we probably wouldn't still be in business at this point and wonder why things didn't work out.

Or, we could be like Method, ICON, Fuel, etc. and design our wheels to have a universal fitment so we can cater to Ford, GM, Dodge, Jeep, and Nissan trucks/SUVs and make a killing easily. Yet, I've never tried to do that b/c I didn't want the Toyota guys to drive down the street and see a Silverado truck or a Ford F150 with the same wheels on. When someone spends their hard earned money on SCS wheels, I want them to feel like it has some value and meaning behind it. There's a reason why our used wheels holds a pretty good resale value. I don't think other brands can hold the same light on the use market.

The truth of the matter is that the goal from Day 1 was to be able to offer an affordable wheel that was well designed, to be able to bring it to market, and offer it to the average Toyota owner much like myself. When I meet my customers, I see myself on the other end. I understand that not all of us can afford high end forged wheels that cost $3k for a set of 16", but it doesn't mean we would settle for poorly designed wheels with universal fitment. I've never compromise my integrity and mission trying to pull this off. It's a ton of work that most guys cannot begin to understand.

Spend the big bucks if you want the exclusivity. Keep it street rated b/c we all know those guys wouldn't dare take those expensive wheels on the trail. If you think it's played out, no problem. Skip this thread and keep it moving, no harm no foul. Maybe wait for our next wheel model and see if it interest you. Just remember, if we offer the public an afford wheel, but can only sell 1000 or so sets to keep them exclusive, we wouldn't be in business long.

I think the limited Ray10 golds should be forged! Just saying....

I’ve mall crawled the hell out of my Ray 10’s for the gram and they’re holding up very well. That rock was no match for them.

Our campers pair really well with SCS wheels.

I own a set already...but agreed I would be down to get a forged set too. That said, I totally get the vibe from Vin that these wheels would appeal to the minority, but I could see maybe a "preorder" process for these type of wheels as they would cost a lot more and would need a dedicated time frame to assemble.

Would be cool Vin if you were to offer a certain time of the year or two where you took preorders just for the forged wheels. I would assume there wouldn't be many that would go that route, but I would totally be ok with a 6-8 month wait for a set of wheels like that knowing that they would not be the norm.

In business, the saying is always "time is money". The time and energy needed for something like that to get going is significant. Pulling off the right marketing campaign and strategy takes quite a bit of resources. Knowing that the ROI would be minimal, it's not feasible for us to take that route just to make a few hundred people, at best, happy. Maybe in the future it's something we will look into further, but at the moment, it does not make business sense for us.

Similar will make you spend twice :D. The wheels are currently out of stock, but we have a container that should arrive late June.

You can subscribe to our New Inventory subscription thread if you haven't already. We will make a post/announcement 1 or 2 days ahead to let everyone know when our website will be updated with new inventory. They will be sold on there on a first come first serve basis.

Well appreciate the honest thoughts on the subject. Considering the current struggles with inventory, I could see this being a new beast not worth trying to support.

Just curious. Why did you guys stop offering glossy lips on SR8’s was it because it was cheaper and you get more ROI? IMO it looked better and gave the wheels contrast especially on matte black wheels.

It wasn't about cost since there was no price difference from our manufacture whether it was gloss or not. I mainly decided to do away with it b/c the gloss clear coat tended to show scratches easier than a satin/matte finish. At the same time, we had other #copycat so called wheel company offer the same type of finish, offered the black bolt option, and wheel decal option and so it was time for a change. We keep things moving and interesting while they can play catch up.

I find it ironic that people will complain about these wheels not being exclusive anymore and everyone is running them now. Yet you bought a truck that is about as non exclusive as it gets? On my 8 mile ride home from work I can count a minimum of 15-20 tacomas on the road every single day. If you were going for a one off build for show purposes I could understand the gripe but the fact is the ray 10 is the best looking and best matching wheel (in my opinion) for the tacoma and the 4runner design that is out right now.

Does anyone know if you can switch out the silver screws to black screws? Or does this have to be done in house by SCS? The screws around the bead. I think thats the right description

Just paint them. And to answer your question they wont change the screws. I was lucky enough to have my set with black screws but I want to get 2 more for a trailer build. I'll have to paint those to match.
