New to pick ups and lifts. Please help

Hi my names Jorge and I’m new to the pick world. I purchased a 2018 Trd sport last week and instantly found a nice used pair of wheels. They are Fuel vectors 18x9 +20 with 275 65r18 Nitto grapplers. The gentleman I bought them from told me they would be fine on stock suspension and me being the noob that I am with out researching beloved him. Now that I have been reading threads on here, I’m pretty sure I need to do a lift kit. If some one can please point me in the right direction on what lift kit I need if I need one the information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

 

Lift isn't the answer. Put the tires/wheels on there and see what happens. Will probably be good enough. If it rubs too much for your taste you'll need to look into a cab mount chop and trim a bit. Lift is irrelevant with respect to fitting those.

 

I'd personally lift the truck first before chopping. If you do put them on, there is a very high chance you'll rub.

You can go cheap and get spacers for the front to lift it...this is a cheap way to do it and not recommenced on this forum or you can get Bilstein 5100s and new coils to lift the front up a bit to get more clearance. Depending if you like that stance or not you can lift the rear to keep it level with the front or a bit higher.

My truck on stock suspension with 265/70/17 tires and 17x9 -12 offset wheels rubbed horribly...even with the truck lifted around 1.5" up front it still rubs on the mud flaps when reversing and when wheeling.

Try doing a search about lifts and you can find a lot of good info.

 

Stock tire size is 31.6 and the tires you picked up is 32.1. I think the tires are fine.

I would be more worried about the width and offset of the wheels. 9" is pretty wide ... hopefully the +20 offset helps.

The rears will be fine (I think). For the fronts, check if the tires clear the UCAs. If they do, drive it around and do some full lock turns to check for rubbing. But yeah, @Doggman is correct ... install it and see if it rubs

BE sure You have the right lug nuts for those rims.

 

if they do rub it will be very little, could get a 1/2 spacer/leveling kit from headstrong off road should fit no problem

 

I waiting on the old owner to find them in his garage. If he does not, do you know what the correct one are?

Not to step on your post. OP has 265/65/17 stock tires (Sport) which are 30.6, not 31.6

 

This is correct. I purchased these same lugs for my Fuel Vectors a few weeks ago. I also purchased a set of Gorilla locking lugs, so each wheel has 5 of the normal spline lugs plus one locking lug nut.

I think you are correct ... I have a sport but don't remember the stock size.

My current KO2s are 32.7 if I recall ... so yeah, he might rub lol

 

Thank you every for the input. Put the wheels on,drove around,did some wheel locks... NO rubbing and they CLEAR the UCA. very happy right now.
