Bummed, got around to fixing some rotten wood on my mobile home. Opened a can of worms. I placed it on a foundation over 20 years ago and the wood I added to the perimeter to make it mate with the mudsill was rotted where I was going to repair. Worst part was some of the wall studs were rotted also, may only be a couple, hope that is all, but that is bad enough. Called a guy who I had remodel my trailer three years ago to see what can be done. Will have to crawl under and see if I can see any other areas that need fixing. The damaged spot was beyond the coverage my covered deck protects. Carpenter ants had been working that spot in the past also. Mobile homes are not designed to protect against ants. Nor is the roof designed to prevent ice damming in snow country. I had put a metal roof on about 20 years ago to stop that and quit shoveling the roof when snow accumulated or stayed more than a couple days. Wish me luck.

Hope we can work things out without any major issues. At least I have a couple months income on hand. Insurance on the place is due in September, then more stuff comes in too. Nothing but money.

Duane: Best of luck for a speedy, inexpensive repair. If not inexpensive then lower price than what you expected.

Thank you. I went around the outside pushing where I had nailed in the 2x6 spacers, no give. Hope that is a good indicator.

    Afternoon all:
Have been detailing the Tacoma for the last couple of days, cleaned the interior, wax job, 303 Aerospace protector on the bumper, fender flares, and a few other parts, tire shine on the tires, and wire brushed some rust off the end of the hitch and painted it. Darn, the truck looks so good now I may decide to keep it around for awhile!:laughing:

Now that sounds like a plan! I bought 3 Toyotas with just over 100k on them, drove 2 to 227k, and 1 to 189k, usually in about 6-7 years I get rid of them because of the mileage. I've had this one for 7 yrs, looks like I just might be getting the 7yr. itch!
Now there's my 99 Silverado, bought it used in 2000 and it now has a little over 37K on it, that one is going to be around for the duration!!!!! Then there's the 66 Impala that I owned for 53 years and counting, you have a long way to go to catch up to that one! :D

:( Have another big tree down in the yard that made a mess. The neighbor wanted to get it away from a building, and I told him if it was easier to drop it in my yard that he could do that. He said he would clean everything up, but I was just out there dragging branches to him to feed into a chipper, hey any help is better than no help and he's a good neighbor.

Hard to find good neighbors anymore boatswain.l've lived in my neighborhood for 36 years ( l used to be the punk azz back then!). Back then there was 4 older guys (55-70) that lived around me and it was great.Anytime you needed help,it was there.Tools, helping with a project, etc. We drank beer together almost every Saturday afternoon. Now,the younger ones don't want your help or even want to speak.Figured l would pass my skills on like the guys did for me.
A couple neighborhood boys do come over for me to fix their bikes when they tear them up and their dads can't fix them or have the time.

Looks like I can sell my Tacoma to my neighbor, told him $7,500 and he said he would pay that for it. I knew he was looking for another vehicle, told him about where another Tacoma is in good condition, but the lady who has it said that she wants to see if any her grandchildren want it, that was a few months ago and it's still sitting at her house. NADA is $6000, probably a dealer wouldn't even want to give me that for it in VG-excellent condition, but need to find a replacement first! Like I said, mine is good for a LONG time yet if I don't buy a new one!
Just saw something that has me wondering also! I believe Tacomas are made in Mexico, and I just read where the proposed tariffs could add about 5k to imported vehicles, would hate to have to pay thousands more for one if that comes into play, they're expensive enough already! :goingcrazy:

Use the 303 on your door weather seals. Keeps them in good shape.

FYI my 2009 Tacoma was made in Freemont CA by a joint cooperative between Toyota and the UAW.

Was just using the CHAT feature with a couple of Toyota dealers about the truck I'm looking for, and that's in their inventory. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, I swear they don't want to really sell trucks and do their best to drive away potential customers! Looks like I need to physically visit the stealerships to make any headway, from this experience they could do away with the chat feature, so far I'm finding it totally useless! :( :annoyed:

Carl, my 2015 Tacoma was made in San Antonio, Texas but I suppose some could be made in Mexico. Probably the ones shipped to California.

Over the years car shopping or just kicking tires, amazed what salespeople will try to get you in or charge you. Anymore, I would just ask for someone else. I almost walked one time when we were only $100 apart. Unfortunately, buying new I'm lost, especially on hot models.

Haven't got into arguing YET, but it sure seems like you need to kiss their butt for them to sell you a Tacoma!
The dealer I usually go to, for recalls etc., doesn't have what I want, should see if they can get one in, or just wait until the 19's come out. Right now I can get $2,598 off an 18 that 1 dealer has in stock, but so far I'm not having very good communication with that dealer.

Duane, they will not get me to budge an inch on what I want, and won't get me to add anything on, that's a given and they may as well be talking to a wall if they even try!
