Thanks. Still trying to decide between the this one or the AVS ll Areoskin. Guess I have plenty of time till spring to make up my mind.

More AVS hood protectors and I've been using them on almost all of my vehicles without any issue.

I have the OEM toyota hood deflector. Mine came with tape to go under the brackets and it has stick on rubber bumpers for the deflector to sit on

Did you have any trouble getting the aeroskin lined up? I had one come in the mail today and it broke while installing it (this was most likely done during shipping box was trashed when I got it).

not really... the trick is to take maybe an inch of the paper backing of the adhesive off at first; position it; then peel off the rest while pushing down.

it lets you line it up better without have to pull it off a bunch.

Good to know, I attempted this in the rain, and cold (stupid idea on my behalf). The company I ordered from is sending me another one since the box was trashed and it was possibly already broken. The backing kept falling back on the adhesive with me and ended up causing me issues. I'm going to tape the backing down on the top of the visor with painters tape next time so this doesn't happen and it will be a lot easier to do what you are saying. Thanks for the help/tip I appreciate it.

Those are not Bug Deflectors..... This is a bug deflector..!!
    images_e002f94abc55c9ef7aa77899309b9643c9dde2ae.jpg

These things you guys are talking about are "paint chip protectors" for the leading edge of the hood... No self-respecting bug will "deflect" from those things.... You gotta kill them bugs with a direct hit..!!
I had one of these (pictured above) on my 1974 Chebby....!! It killed bugs...AND saved the leading edge of the hood.....BUT boy did it ever mess up my windshield squirters.... Made them squirt to the center bottom of the windshield when moving......!! The vortex it created was unbelievable..!!!

The leading edge of the hood is a very small area of the front of our trucks..... I've purchased the touch-up pen from the dealer and choose to deal with ALL of the chips up front using that....!!

"That's all I'm gonna say about that"...... "Forest"...!

Someone these look to flush and angled too low to deflect the air up and over the cab. Does anyone have a deflector that is angled higher and preferably one that doesn't use tape or brackets that contact the painted exterior part of the hood.

I did the AVS 2 and it has really worked great at reducing the amount of bugs I had been getting. No allignment issues, no rubbing on the paint and no double sided tape. It looks great and yea it does work. You can also see the bugs going over the top of the windshield. I highly recommend it.

There is a difference between a Hood Protector (the low profile flush ones you see) and a Stone and Bug Deflector (the ones with an upward angled lip...or the old school flat washboard style ones like @over60 has)

The hood protector simply protects the hood from knicks as far as I can tell, the stone and bug deflector changes the airstream and pushes the bugs up and over your car (or murders the shit out of them if you get an old school flat one lol).

It's an important distinction. I ordered a Hood Protector by accident and returned it because it wasn't going to do what I needed it to.
