I love capture one, especially since they have a cheaper purchase option with only Sony support.

Ah you must be talking about LRTimelapse. If so, I’ve used that as well. Great application!

Anyway, I haven’t upgraded to CC yet and don’t want to because I oppose the monthly subscription model. Screw that! So I’ll hold out as long as possible. Besides, Photoshop CS6 does everything I need, especially considering I mostly shoot film.

Yeah doesnt effect you as much, I do a lot of video editing as well as stills. So the upgrade to me made a huge difference. Im not all game for subscription based either but gotta conform if I wanna keep up with the big dogs in the media world.

LRTimelapse is the program yes. Ive used it for over a year though just using adobe bridge cs6 to do the keyframe edits and then rendered the edited raws with after effects to make it into a time lapse.

I've moved to Luminar for RAW editing and I hang onto CS6 for layers and blending.

What's up guys. Just found this thread. Been shooting for a while off and on, but really love light painting as my go to style. Here's a few recent shots I've done since I've yet to do my truck.

Was everything shot in 4K? or were some clips upscale to 4K? What kind of camera did you film this with?

All shot in 4K. But for some weird reason I'm having trouble with 4K. It doesn't show up or work under my log in to view it but other people it does. Idk if my rendering is being done incorrectly or what. Shot on a Lumix G85

I was asking cause some of the shots were sorta out of focus. I figured you shot slow motion in a low res and then up scaled. I would suggest buying an external monitor. I used a smallHD Focus 5" screen to get all my shots in focus. Makes a WORLD of difference when shooting on location. Also, try and find a location that doesnt have as harsh a light environment. You have a lot of bright areas with dark shadows. The video came out pretty good though. Just giving constructive criticism for next time.

Video is a whole other beast to master.. Im slowly learning along the way as I edit and shoot more and more.

Like the truck rolling out of the garage? I did that one purpose if that's 1 of the ones you're talking about. but yeah I've caught myself a few times being out of focus (like the one of the Toyota logo in the grill getting sprayed on some shots I've tried to capture, then not seeing it until I get into post. I just got the camera so I'm still working on getting to know it better and adjusting to it coming from just shooting video on a GoPro. I've done video for a few years now, just haven't been able to capture stuff with zoom and focusing so that's new to me.

On the lighting, the lighting in the garage sucked, but it was 90 degrees out while he worked so no other option's on that since he didn't have any stand up lights to make it brighter inside. That's for the input though, I love input from people that actually know what they're doing with videography so anytime!

Yeah that focus screen makes a huge difference. I manually rack focus on a 100-400mm when shooting offroad trucks on the race course. The screen has a "focus peaking" mode where everything in focus has red lines around it. As the truck moves closer, I rack the focus ring clockwise to bring focus closer to me while making sure the truck keeps the red lines around it. Thats how I keep moving objects in focus. It usually takes about 5 shots to get the motion and focus fluid. Try shooting in a log format also. It helps when in post, you can control how dark your shadows are and how white your highlights are much more. Im pretty sure the lumix has something like that. I know that a lot of people with the GH5 and stuff use a different type of external screen that will actually record the HDMI output from the camera. Its how people use a GH5 and are able to record ProRes 4:2:2 files from the camera. The 5DMKIV I have only records in 4:2:0. so youre actually getting a little more color depth to work with later in post.

Did some milky way photography over the weekend. Used my mavic pro and headlamp to do some aerial light painting. Not fully done with this edit, I want to brighten it up a bit more. What do you guys think?

Also, my friend is selling his 6DMKI if anyone is interested. He took awesome care of it. $650 for the body and battery and charger. He upgraded to the 5DMKIV so hes selling the 6D. Good deal, cheapest one in good condition i found was $780.

More Milky way from last weekend. I took my friend Sarah out with me cause she wanted to go star gazing. I ended up using her as my subject on one of my photos.

Nice job using your drone to light the scene. MW shooting and editing is tough. Hard to walk the line between enhancing the color and lighting and dust trails vs. over doing it and making it look completely unrealistic. What lens did you use to shoot your friend with?

Here's a shot from last weekend in Colorado. Lots of smoke from fires nearby and reflected light from nearby downs gave some strange light to the low hanging clouds and smoke. This is actually looking E/SE.

@DesertDigger That’s a cool and creative Milky Way shot!

I found a moose family near the road in Denali last weekend, thankful I keep my Pentax upfront with me.

I'm not sure who was more surprised to see the other, but man am I glad Pentax DNG's are flexible. It's always good to check that you're set on the mode you expect to be in and not start underexposing your shots by 3-4 stops... Next camera has to have a locking mode dial.

    I used the canon 50mm f1.4 usm.

The drone cabin was shot with the Samyang 24mm f1.4.

Boy, did I get some amazing stuff in Malibu this weekend!!
