What is everyone doing this weekend? I finally got a weekend to go out and hit the trails if anyone is up for it.

    Thank you

It has to do with how pipe is measured. It’s measured by ID whereas tube is OD. This just means the dies aren’t the perfect size.

For instance, a piece of 1” pipe has a 1” ID and a 1.3” OD

Bending tubing on it causes kinks on the inside bend, so packing it with sand as well as using a smaller die (though really it’s closer in size) helps mitigate that.

Dirt designs bent mine but I was going to weld up some square tubing at first. Might be an option

I’m gonna break it in with my tube doors. Hopefully that’ll get it dialed in so we can bend your stuff too.

I already have latches and mirrors! All that’s left is to buy the bender and material. The plan is to either do it this week or next week, depending on the weather.

So am I! I hope they come out even remotely how I’m imagining it in my head. I’ve never fabricated anything quite on this level.

The way I’m designing it is to minimize the tube notching. I’ll only have to do one on each door, and it’ll be a 90° notch. I saw a YouTube video on how to do it with an angle grinder, so that’s what I’m gonna do.

Edit: and only one 90° bend per door as well. I’m going for simple

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
    I can't... And here's why...

It's now officially MY garage. It's built. It's paid for. It's MINE.... But it's empty. (well, except for the vehicles and lawn tractor)

    IMG_1355.jpg
I've got cabinets to hang, tools to move from my basement, my in-laws, and a storage unit. And then it'll REALLY be mine!
