What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Truck wouldn’t start yesterday. Cranked but no fire. Did a few tests to confirm no fuel pressure. Took the bed off today and changed the pump. Put it all back together and it’s back up and running. Shake down test to the car wash confirmed it was a successful repair

 

Really only need the ubolts to throw it in, harness can be done anytime. Pretty easy swap too, might be a good time to switch the brake line for an extended one if you haven't yet. Lemme know what you're thinking on time, later in the week is fine too

 

measure the ID of your wheels. They slide in from the back of the wheel. My rim ID is 4.25” - probably standard for Tacos and they go over/outside the axle rim.

 

Hmmm..... if I’m taking the bed off, maybe the fuel pump is a good one to change at 158k miles. I hate dropping fuel tanks. Thanks for the idea!

 

I haven't but I do have the brake proportioning valve bracket kit lying around somewhere.

Super easy to swap out if you have the bed off, takes maybe 15mins once the bed is off.

 

Ya I'm ordering new springs I didn't realize how fatigued my springs were until today

 

Some wiring may exist, but it'll be very minimal. I noticed the harness connector under the seat in my 5-lug had the connector for the E-locker, it just wasn't pinned for it. This was confirmed by cross-referencing the connector in the Toyota FSM.

And that was on a 5-lug, so Toyota had the provisions for it on many different trucks over the years.

 

Gotta love a company who's workers go "grab that bucket and find something that works for this" lol

 

Sorry, just saw this. I got lifetime alignments at Firestone for like $170 or something around there. Well worth it in my opinion. After 2-3 alignments it pays for itself.

Got my truck weighed tonight. 5040lbs. 2800 up front and 2240 in the rear.

 

What does this do? 99% certain I have one in my 03 TRD. And couldn’t help put notice it has an adjustor bolt where it attaches to the rear axle. So how would one go about adjusting to get it to wherever it needs to be?

 

Advice from one that just replace his with OEM from General Spring, get the HD version & I would add a 4th in the upper pack for weight. @borg1736 just did so... I’m kicking myself that I didn’t - but will be adding an extra in shortly.

 

It raises the brake proportioning valve up by a bit. It came with my OME kit.

I knew it was heavy up front, yet this bonehead (me) burnt out his front Hankook 285/70/R16 driving from NY to Denver a couple times without rotating. Hopefully this guy is coming tomorrow to buy the good two.

Mine was a little over 4,800, but will be right at 5k here shortly. Happy with the 1,000lb over on my Alcans.

Yeah, Heavier than I thought it was going to be. I was thinking, +600 I’m concerned 1000 will be to much. Also don’t know if I should go 3” or 4”. I was just looking at your build, you got quite the rake. I’m not totally against it

 

im still on the fence of getting alcans or keeping my expo's. going to wait till i get more of my mods/camping gear mounted before i make the switch. i probably should do the switch but we'll see.

how does those +1000 ride when your unloaded to just the bed?
