The good ol' GM 1 ton master cylinder has been a popular upgrade for the older sas'd trucks, and now you can do the same with your newer rig!

    Master Cylinder Adapter Kit

If you've swapped in tons on your 05+ Tacoma you need this kit. The stock master cylinder and even the Tundra master cylinder are insufficiently sized for the job. More than likely if you've tried to use the stock master you've ended up with a soft pedal that goes to the floor before you come slowly to a stop. Well, here's the solution.

Compatibility with the FJC and 4Runner are being checked now.

This kit adapts the 5.7L Tundra dual diaphragm booster and the GM 1 ton master cylinder to your firewall and stock brake pedal. No cutting is required as it all just bolts up. The new master does take up a bit more space, so keep that in mind.

    The kit includes the following:

    • Interior pushrod extension (the Tundra pushrod is significantly shorter than the Tacoma)
    • Waterjet cut Adapter plate between the booster and master (offset bolt patterns)
    • Brake line tube nuts (sized to fit the master and the standard 3/16" brake lines)
    • Plunger adapter (CNC milled to fit accurately between the booster and master)
    • Oring to seal the master to the adapter plate
    • All needed hardware

    What's not included
The master cylinder can be picked up quite cheaply at any parts store, or online. The booster will need to be sourced at a parts yard or Ebay. I have had the best luck with ebay, finding them in the $60 range. You're looking for a 2008+ booster from a 5.7L Tundra. Match the booster to the image above for verification.

 Don't worry, the GM parts don't touch the firewall. You're safe.

Would this be sufficient for just a heavy truck on larger tires....Or would this we overpowering? I am doing a big brake upgrade, so wondering if the master cylinder should be on the list as well..

    The adapter kit is $95.

That depends on the surface area of the pistons in your calipers. If you're front and rear disc and going to a larger caliper piston size, then this might work for you. Otherwise you're going to have a very firm pedal with no increase in braking performance.

Gotcha. Not going that big. Maybe down the road though! Thanks!

What are your thoughts on this: Did a Trail-Gear rear disc conversion on my e-locked '97 std cab V-6, also upgraded to the T-100 MC (1-1/16" vs 1"), Wilwood 2lb residual valve and manually adjustable proportioning valve. Truck appears to have a dual diaphragm m/c on it from the factory (from the research I've done). It stops pretty good but the pedal feel leaves a bit to be desired, fairly soft and more than average travel, not real confidence inspiring off the road especially.

If you have a soft pedal that goes to the floor a larger mc may be required. It sounds like you have all of the right components though. You'll want to find the ratio between the area of the mc plunger and the caliper pistion area. That will give you an idea of where you stand.

As in a total area (calipers x4) vs MC area. Would piston circumference measurements be what we’re after?

Read through the Brake Hydraulics section of this.

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Brakes/

The smaller the mc piston the greater the force, but the larger the displacement. If you have a larger mc pistion the effort to create the force is decreased, but you have to move a larger volume of fluid.

You're looking at one calipers pistions vs the mc piston. If everything in your setup is working properly and you still have a long pedal stroke you will want to increase the size of the mc piston.

Thx for the link and info..really more soft pedal with longer than stock travel. I'll read up, thx again.

@Hacktacular , this may be a better upgrade than the other choice. Something to consider.

Check the ratio between the mc piston and the caliper piston to see if the pedal is going to be right.

That work was already done by the vendor.
