So I got a Rexing V1 dash cam. The cam itself is fine. What I have noticed is that the damn thing won't stick to the window when it's hot. Initially I just used the adhesive pad that came with it and on any hot day it would just come off. So I went and bought some 3M VHB double sided tape, which is supposed to have a very strong bond. Same result. Has anyone had any luck mounting a dash cam? Not interested in using the Go Pro mount. Thanks.

I've got a dashcam in front on the windshield and another mounted on the rear. I'm in sunny south FL with no issues. Where on the windshield are you mounting the cam?

Same here in Louisiana. No issues with 3m tape. Maybe clean the surface really well with some alcohol before applying the adhesive?

I just cleaned the surface off completely (the part that sticks to the window is REALLY hard to get off. Not so much with the part on the camera obviously) and stuck on just the 3M tape and the little mounting plate. I'll give it a day to sit like that then mount the camera back on. Maybe that'll help. Who knows. Window was spotless the first time around.

I have a off brand dash cam mounted in the GoPro mount and it works great. Here is a solution for under $8 dollars.

I stuck mine behind the rearview mirror too - its lasted in 100+ degree So Cal weather parked out in the sun for over a year now. Definitely a problem with whatever you are using to stick yours on- perhaps try using 91% isopropyl alcohol (available at RiteAide) - I never use the little wipes the tape manufacturers provide. Also give the plate a couple days to set before putting the camera on it.

This is the one I have- pretty basic but records speed and location too:

I let it sit for 24 hours before mounting the camera, so we shall see what happens.

Not directly, but here is how mine is mounted, just to the left of the Go Pro mount.

Although I will say because I have an 18, the larger sensor behind the mirror kind of makes the dash cam placement irrelevant as that takes up more of the view. That being said, I used to have a 16 and I didn't notice any difference to be honest. Unless the camera mounted to the GoPro mount hangs down quite a bit I don't see it being an issue.

I have installed my Blacksys dashcam behind the mirror also, I cleaned the glass with rubbing alcohol and just stuck the mount to the glass for a couple days, then I attached the dash cam to the mount. Its been on the truck for about 10 months and it hasnt budged a bit. I even push the buttons and pull out the cables from the cam and it stays in place. I originally tried the go pro mount but had to modify the mount to get it to work and noticed that no matter how tight I screwed the mount, it would still move out of place.

I have used that in my last 3 vehicles and my wife's car with no issues. It works great in the Taco. I have a GW1-B though, so I'm not sure if it will fit your Rexing.

You should tap in an add-a-fuse and one of these too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MH4ZVHO/ so that you have no wires showing. It's a clean install in my Taco. This pic's from the DMM thread, but you can see it's clean and tucked right up under the mirror using that mount:

I have this same dash cam. I've had zero issues for two summers in Atlanta.

It's still #1 on my list. I like the mount someone posted above. It's part of my next round of mods.
