What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Haha shit, I have a plated bumper and sliders too. Just haven’t welded them together yet.

What kind of fuel economy are you getting?

 

Lol terrible. 13-14 around town. 16-18 hwy

 

Man I get 15 MPG average now on my relatively stock 4x4 conversion. When it was still a PreRunner the fuel economy was a little better. It’s definitely going to get worse once I get all the armor on, and the lift I still have to get rebuilt.

Doesn’t help I only have the Auto 3RZ and I drive like a maniac. I’m always Pedal-to-the-metal trying to get up to highway speeds because it’s slower than loaded semi trying to go up a 14% grade.

 

It's a truck, who cares about MPG. Go drive your Civic around if you wanna get good gas mileage.

The Civic would be a good daily. However, it’s just about the most boring thing you can ever drive.

I had the same setup on my trip to mammoth in the bed minus the Kayaks but I have an RTT...was at 500lbs+ easy. Water and gas cans when full add a lot of weight. That was when I learned I needed to beef up my leafs with AALs, I was nearly on my bump stops the whole time.

 

A big give and take, just as anything in life.

Hard to find a fun car that gets good gas mileage, that's dependable that's cheap. You can only pick 3 if not only 2

 

Definitely, and sometimes add in things like firewood, chain saw and stuff like that. It adds up so quick lol

 

I just took a look at your Supra build, that sounds like a totally fun DD - but I also can't imagine that gets good gas mileage either.

Better than the truck. So far the worst I've gotten is 22 mpg city and I was driving like an ass every other day haha. Only thing is it isn't a cheap car to fix usually. But haven't had the issues yet. It's pretty fun, decent MPG and so far it's reliable

2015 Golf TDi. 80+ mile round trip commute everyday is a lot nicer when you're getting over 40mpg compared to 17 lol

 

Jobs are a dime a dozen. I bet if you would have looked you could have found one a lot closer to home, and then been able to keep your Taco.
