I’m sure someday they will. I think it was hard for Toyota to justify making an off-road oriented SUV when the 4Runner was essentially the same thing right around the time crossover SUV’s we’re taking over the world.

I hope they do. The market for off-road oriented SUV’s is dead. It’s pretty much the 4Runner or Wrangler. It would be cool to see a new Xterra or FJ or Both.

You can’t go wrong with one. The issue is how well they’re holding their value. It’s crazy. Another reason I regret selling mine. Especially for a Wrangler that was nothing but a headache for me.

I'd rather not think of all the $ spent :(
Didn't toyota have Hino design them? Those Hinos were all over the middle east and far east and ran like champs. A good friend had an FJ and that thing was a tank because my window licking friend could break a hammer!

The market is kind of dead, but at the same time, the Wrangler is saving Chrysler FIAT right now so why not try and compete? They've got a new 2.0/soft-hybrid wrangler that gets better city mileage than our trucks get on the highway.

Take a look at their resale value. It'll blow your mind. I'm not a fan of some of the colors. But when done right, I think they can look really cool. I sat in them at the auto show before. Blind spots galore. They're also awkward to get in and out of.

Toyota seems content with the sales of their money makers like the RAV4, Camry, Corolla etc. I think they could bring back the FJ and it would sell just fine but I’m not sure their in a situation where they need to do that.

How people keep buying wranglers knowing how junk they are is beyond me. And I’m saying this having just traded in a 2016 for my new Tacoma. Constant issues. But people love them. I wonder if Toyota put out a 4 door FJ option how it would sell?

The 08 trail teams (like I posted on the previous page) with the black trim and wheels looked good. I was never a fan of the non-matching roof colors but they were fun nonetheless. Very retro.

The way they hold value is insane. Ugh. I regret selling it so bad. Should have just kept it (was paid off) and taken out a loan for the Tacoma. Oh well, live and learn.

So, is this guy looking to sell one and keep the other? Or asking which to take off road? Not understanding the poll...

    Build both:

    2007 FJ on 35’s
    2017 Tacoma on 33’s

Both awesome platforms, honestly though resale is STUPID right now on FJ’s so if you don’t need it send it down the road.

    Yes.

The 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, and Tacoma share a similar frame but they’re all modified in different aspects for the different purposes of the vehicle. Think of it this way, FJ Cruiser is the off-road 4Runner.

When it first came out, I couldn't stand to look at the FJ. Funny how time can change things. Now I would love to own one. You don't see a whole lot of them, I think that's part of what appeals to me. Anything that you can see 20 of just going out on a beer run starts to look a little plain to me. I loved the way the newer retro muscle cars looked when they first came out; the Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Challenger. Now that everyone and their uncle has one, I just think they look tired and ordinary. No offense to anyone that has a Mustang, Camaro, Charger or Challenger. Just one guy's opinion.

I am anything but a Wrangler fan. If Fort Riley is any indication of the success of the Wrangler though, I'd say they'll be around for the foreseeable future.
