A 6x12 trailer rental from Uhaul is $20 cheaper, but it's all good.

    Dude, these are pickup trucks!
If you don't have a roll bar or headache bar, well you should, even so, when something is too long you hang it over the cab and bed.

Place a 8 or 10 foot 2x8 on a rolled up towel near the cab edge down down to your open tailgate and brace it up front with a couple vertical scrap 2xs to keep the load off the cab itself, and use a back block in the bed (not the tailgate) as this tie may way upwards of 250/300lbs. Then strap it in, put the giant pink ball bag on it and drive away. I carry shit as long as 20' all the time and even designed my roll bar/jack mount to accommodate this easily.

Nice build, your truck’s looking good! Best estimate is this thing weighs about 400 lbs, it’s a beast and would absolutely crush the cab. And hang wayyyy off the front as it’s almost 3x longer than the cab.

For sure, my first purchase after getting my first truck was a Costco 4 pack of ratchet tie downs. For securing the post laterally on the extender I trust the pair of cinch straps more, these are super stout and small enough to go in the little rings on the ends.

Easily! On oem roof rack! Even better, buy an extender that hooks to the draw tie at harbour freight, install it upside down, so that the long part faces upwards, its the same height as roof rack :) that gives you an additional support point.

Ive hauled 10 18' 2"x12" boards with only the roof rack before, no problems (just ratchet strap tge boards together at the ends)

If the roof rack could handle a 400lb log I'd love to do that
