I had a 2016 GTI autobahn for a few months. Best car for the money, hands down. Mine was an autobahn with the performance pack, full bolt ons. Made 330hp to the wheels and could pretty much roast the stock tires through 2nd into 3rd. I had a manual, the stock clutch goes quick if you tune it with supporting mods. Pretty sure the clutch was on the way out when I sold it with 8k miles. No way I’d buy an FRS, so damn slow. Definitely would’ve kept it if it was a 3rd car behind my Jeep and truck. But only had it and a JK at the time.

I gapped a new focus RS in mine. Mine was stage 2 plus with downpipe FMIC and an intake.

I'm good man, thank you for the offer broski. I'm being lazy and eating dinner.

Task list for the evening is to replace the UCA bushings, calipers, and fluids.

Apparently there was a chunk of the frame that was chipped off and several welds broke. They said due to structural liability, and being that “tacoma frames are not to be repaired” they are gonna do a replacement. But honestly I’d rather a replacement to be sure. Just worried now about other things like engine, trans, and 4x4 components.

Look into the Subaru BRZ if you like the FRS. Same car essentially but Subaru did a better job on the interior. I wouldn't go VW because when we do repairs we hear things like "That part is on national backorder for 2 weeks" and things like that. While I'm sure you don't plan on wrecking either of them that's my input from the body shop world.

I see. all of your other components should be good. Seeing what mine sustained and then putting it back together... not even a rattle while driving. I am fully a toyota fan now. i mean I was before but these truly are a tough vehicle. Visualizing the best outcome for you!

Basically when we call a dealer and they cant find a part anywhere in the US and have to order it and wait for it to make the voyage. Happens more with Mercedes and Audi but we've seen it on VW as well.

Personally prefer rwd for the “go fast” feel, never liked torque steer

That’s why I liked the GTI. The torque steer is non-existent, even at the power levels I was at. The BRZ/FRS is scary slow. Fun, but slow, and a terrible interior.

Also Audi is VW and most parts are interchangeable as they share platforms in the GTI/R A3/S/RS3. Never saw the backorder issue or really any issues with mine that weren’t my fault.
