Just got a biolite 2. Amazon warehouse deal. $90.xx. Supposed to be damaged ... not.
    Brand new in the box.
The 2 is much better than the first version.
I still do not see a stove as a serious charging appliance, but a cool stove.

    Recommendations for a small cooler/lunchbox?

Just looking for something that I can throw in the truck with a day or two's food or use for a lunchbox. Current straight up piece of junk is an Igloo that I bought on an unplanned trip and its a 9qt. So that size is fine or slightly larger. This thing wont stay cool with plenty of ice while sitting in the shade when its 50 degrees out. Prefer something that is flexible or collapsible.

Nope not a disqualifier... looking for something that can serve multiple purposes like that.

Is it one open cavity inside?

If you mean for altitude sickness that’s acetazolomide. Min dose 125mg twice a day starting 24 hrs before being altiude. Continue through the first 48 hrs at altitude. Some take three times a day instead. It can also help relieve symptoms if taken when they begin to appear. Obviously aclimatizing slowly is preferred but not always practical. Prescription only.

    common sense!
A lot depends on age, pulmonary health, physical condition, and the altitude where you live vs altitude at destination . I live at 7200 ft and have visitors from around 500 ft. Most of their symptoms are headache & tired, relieved by rest drinking lots of fluids (forget about alcohol of any kind for a few days), keep exertion on the low side. If you're going to elevation in the range of 10 -12 thousand feet, plan for 2-3 days acclimation at 7-8 thousand ft before spending time higher. IF FOR ANY REASON YOU START FEELING REALLY CRAPPY, get lower . It wouldn't hurt to google High Altitude Sickeness for advice that isn't 'off the cuff'. Have fun & take it easy.

I got altitude sickness only once. I hiked up into the Never Summer range to see if I could sling some airplane wreckage out for DNR. I wouldn't wish that stuff on anybody. I solveded it by laying a bunch of fir tree limbs on the snow and laying down in my bag for about 2 hours. Slept so hard. Woke up and I was fine for the rest of the 4 day trip.

I'm going on 3 years now using their stuff, and I'm never disappointed. It has served me well on all of my backpacking trips since I started investing in their products. From short day trips to long multi-week hikes, I don't have any failures yet.
    • 2 packs (Nemo and Arc Haul)
    • 3 (soon to be 4) of their tents - Solplex, Duplex, Altaplex, and just ordered the Plexamid
    • Ground tarps
    • Back-up tent support poles
    • Repair tape, patches, and stick-on extra loops
    • Pack hip belts
    • Pack shoulder pouches
    • Probably 20 different stuff sacks, zip pouches and pack liner
    • Food hang bag system
    • Cordage and linelocs
    • Various accessories - small caribiners, pack attachment loops, pack lid, etc.
If the Plexamid arrives in the nick of time for my late July JMT fishing trip, it's going with me. Otherwise I'll take the Altaplex.

Zpacks just replied back to me and said it's gonna be tight to get it to me in the next 5 weeks in time for my JMT trip, but that there's still a chance and that they'd try to push it to me in time. However, I have some later summer trips planned and I'll definitely be field testing it before I'm back on the Arizona Trail again this October. I'll be sure to review my comparison of it against 2 of their other very similar models. Honestly it's just like the Altaplex but with a shorter height and a wider roof peak. But I think the new roof design will solve a couple of irritations I have.

More stoked the more I use the Trangia. Simmer dinner and then the water for clean up while you eat. Only used the Coleman once to boil water for coffee.
