happened to me a couple weeks back at the Styx concert in Raleigh and I parked in the premium lot and they were directing us into spots so I at least tried to stay a little away from the dodge pickup next to me, and the girl is getting out of the passenger side and hits my truck, so I get out and just look at her and she says sorry for getting in the way, I say, no worries but you just hit my truck, and she says nothing, but her husband says sorry, and they walk away, man ....fortunately no damage, but at least show your sorry..

Mini vans don't scare me because the doors slide. Softball moms driving yukons are avoided at all costs. They typically can't park their beast. Their kids are usually Lysol drinking apples that don't fall far from the tree. It is a guaranteed recipe for a door ding.

I think any car terrifies me. People just don’t give a shit about other people’s stuff. It’s so damn frustrating.

That's why I got side steps that stick out far enough to make anyone else think twice about opening their doors to far. It only works well with cars and smaller suv's so I park next to them.

2 years and no door dings yet.

I tend to park at the far end of the lot as well, usually next to nice vehicles, in the hopes that they view other people's cars/trucks like I do and won't leave a door ding in mine, as opposed to Molly Minivan or Sharon SUV whose kids think that the car next to theirs is just something to bounce off of or a surface to draw on while they wait for mom to buckle them into their carseat.

It’s probably because they themselves have to park in the boonies

Yeah, sliders are great for small 2-door cars or crossovers. The rear doors on sedans will still get you though.

Bro-dozers parking next to you are just d-bags being d-bags. I doubt anyone in a full-size truck with an 8" drop bracket/spacer lift and 22" dubs has mutual respect for a Toyota . I wouldn't worry about door dings with them though. They'd never want to damage their "pussymobiles."

My paint is far from flawless, but I avoid parking to filthy cars, beaters, and anything with a car seat or booster seat. Oh, and full size SUVs because they're almost solely driven by soccer moms with multiple children who couldn't maneuver a Civic to save their lives, let alone a three ton truck.

I am old, and enjoy walking almost as much as a dental drill. I do not park in the "south 40" if it can be avoided.

I could probably could get a handicapped parking tag, but won't because I know the system is exploited, I know there are those that need the space more than I do, and I have seen many of those parking in those space throw the doors open with no concern about who or what may be hit.

I do have a parking strategy that is "mostly" effective that my wife actually agrees and helps with. We do our best to find a space that is open between 2 of the following vehicle types or between one and a curb, wall, shrub etc.:
Obvious enthusiast - This guy has probably spent close to the sticker price adding mods and possibly custom paint ti his rig ( Like a TW member)
A 2 - 4 year old vehicle that looks showroom fresh - This guy cares and works to keep his rig looking like new.
A classic in very good condition - If you find an 80's muscle car that looks good, he is NOT going to ding your Taco.

ALWAYS folks that don't give a rats ass about their vehicle much less yours. AVOID:
    Clearly bubbled clear cost
    Badly dulled/faded paint
ANYTHING with visible primer and/or obvious bondo
Vehicles with dents, scratches, or other obvious damage
Clearly DIY bumpers, panels, windows, makeshift mods (Like guard rail, wood beam, or taped on bumpers)
Pretty much anything that has "Baby on board", stick figure toddlers, or honor roll/high school or lower stickers.
Probably should avoid the autism speaks stuff unless on an obvious enthusiast's vehicle.

Watch for clear bike trails into or out of the parking lot casue kids on bikes are generally clumsy and clearly never have done any damage to anything that was not witnessed.

Obviously not gonna ding their vehicle but it amuses me

My 1st gen has faded clear coat, dents, dings, rust, and looks rough...and scares people...you wouldn't likely park next to it willingly

I hope so. I hope its more of a "hey this guy has a nice new truck, hopefully he won't fuck up mine", kind of thing.
