Made some color matched plugs for my fender holes.

Bought red body clips, sanded them down, filled with bondo, sanded, primed, sanded, painted and cleared.

The black part is a neoprene washer behind it.

With my Bestop on I get about 320/tank. With Windows out of it I get about 260/tank, and taking it off completely I get about 300/ tank. That is til the light comes on. I have a mix of city and highway driving.

4 cyl 5 speed xcab - mostly empty and very stock. I don't drive like a buttmunch. I can get 22 mpg if I use 91 octane or 89 with a can of sea foam.

All the weight of skids and tools, etc adds up and you pay for it in gas.

I do drive like a buttmunch. I tried all the things to try and improve it, I guess I'm just stuck at 13mpg. Oh well. Built for a long time not a cheap time

13 mpg?? Thats like really bad lol I have 34s, armor and a supercharger and I still get around 16. Ease up on the right pedal should bump those numbers up. When accelerating try to stay around 2.5k rpm

Driving style will only save so much - the weight of all the mods & gear adds up - auto vs manual trans plays in too but not 10 mpg worth...
Evaluate how much weight you're moving, that's where I'd start.

It definitely should. Although the 12+ Headlights got sleeker and had minor changes, I believe they’re still H4 based housings. Which would mean you literally just remove the bulb shroud thingy that protrudes out from the back of the reflector housing. Once that is removed you literally just put the projector in with a rubber washer behind it to seat into the reflector housing nice and snug while tightening the threads on the back side. I’ve watched as people retrofit their vehicles for years on forums... never thought I’d finally do it myself. It was worth every single minute of sleep lost (went to bed at 4am for this project) then up at 8am. Haha

I don’t know. Other than black fj cruiser wheels my truck is stock. Oh yea AFE ProDry air filter as well. I haven’t triggered the light maybe once and it was 350ish. I drive easy. Did do a tune up at 60K. Original plugs were changed with no change in gas mileage. Throttle body wasn’t bad either. Mass airflow also cleaned.

Mpg unchanged from bone stock, sliders and ifs skid, 265 tires. I'm resigned to the fact mpg varies vastlyvastly. Might as well supercharge it, maybe it'll increase...hahaha

    1. My gas light comes on with about 4.5 - 5 gallons left in the tank. so when you say a tank...
    2. By my calculations the farthest i would make it on a take would be around 410 miles, not including the gas in the filler neck or lines. (21.1 gallon tank)
2.1 I average over 20 mpg's but never drive highway, I do get after it from time to time. Not a total slow poke.
    3. If you have bigger tires than stock, then you cannot use the trip to calculate mileage without:
-For example when i pull the trigger on my lift and go from 265/60/18 to 285/75/16 my tires will rotate 46 less times per mile than before.
-Its also better to get the MFG's rev's per mile rather than a tire size calculator estimate but that what we will use for this demonstration.
-my stock is 661 and new tire is 615 revs per mile so i divide that and get 1.075. if i was calculating 15mpgs with my new tires on the trip i would multiply that by 1.075 so i am actually getting 16.12 mpg's.
4.No I didnt do anything to my Taco today other than get it dirty at the fair last night. Kids had so much fun splashing through mud holes they wanted a picture.

If I am doing the math wrong, straighten me out. I do make mistakes.

That's about the same mileage where my low fuel light kicks on. But I still have at least 5 gallons in the tank. I've been trying to tell Toyota my gauge is messed up, but I gave up. I get another 100 miles with the low fuel light on, so about 420 ish per tank.

Adding a bed extender sounds like a great next add for me. I also have the TC bed stiffeners and love em. I carry two large kayaks often and with better peace of mind, and I'm constantly using the extra tie points for things.

Is your bed extender easily removable?
