    Hey Guys,

I just put on my OEM mud flaps. However, I am not entirely sure if I should leave the front ones on. Hearing about the rubbing in other threads makes me nervous that I could potentially damage the wheel well. I have attached a photo of my wheel well as it sits now. I am running 255/85/16 with DC Extreme Country. I can fully lock the steering both directions with no rub. Would you leave them or take them off? Thanks.

If you plan on off-roading, the OEM mudflaps are so stiff that if they catch on a rock, they'll be ripped right off. Your better off with a flexible mudflap like RokBlokz.

I don’t plan on any off roading other than the occasional rough road out hunting or fishing. This is my daily driver.

You should be okay if you don't go crazy when turning. I can see you rubbing while turning at speed and hitting a bump. Even then I don't think you are going to actually rip the flap off.

I did tear the sheet metal on the fender of my old 4runner making a hard reverse with the wheels turned. This was with tires that were a bit too big and no flaps.

    Time for a 3"

I'm a second gen, but I took a Dremel to the middle part of the mud flap where the tire would rub when the suspension flexes. It still is solid and hasn't compromised the structure of the flap.

The OEM front flaps on my '09 were absurdly long--I cut 6" off them and they are still quite adequate to the task:
