What would be cheaper and easier to swap into a 4x4 1999 tacoma 2.7 with a manual trans 350 or 302? Thanks!

I think it'd be easier to S/C what you have now or swap in a V6 and S/C that. I know some people have done the Tundra engine swap. Maybe I'm just lazy but swapping in an engine from an entirely different manufacturer seems like a lot of work, and lot of fabrication and head scratching and troubleshooting.

That is true, how hard would it be to swap the 3.4 in it? & do you have any suggestions on what super charger?

Just sell it and get something with a v8 or v6 if that's what you want. If you're here asking these questions, it's not right for you. sbc is so much cheaper to swap/build, by the way before i get accused of adding nothing to the thread.

in every build I have seen there are 2 huge problems to overcome... exhaust and oil pan. If we are talking 302-Ford vs. 350 GM, I am thinking that the 350 GM would have many many more oil pan options.

Just like any other forum, there are those that know a lot, post a lot and should be listened to. Others know a lot, post little and should be listened to. Others know little and post a lot etc. Post count alone tells you nothing.

But, when you're brand new, you have no idea which category you're calling names. And really life is simpler when you just ignore rather than inflame. Personally opinion of course, with a lot of professional experience (ex cop  )

    1. I’m with se7enine. Please don’t ruin a perfectly good Toyota with a domestic motor

    2. 3.4 swap- because the 3RZ is in a different family from the 5VZ, this is not a plug and play swap such as 3.0-3.4 Soo... if you are going to go to the trouble of the swap, you might as well go bigger (think UZ or JZ)

    3. A low boost supercharger from LCE would put you on par with a 3.4 (this is probably your best option)

Then there are the people who can't detect sarcasm and/or can't take a little ribbing from well established members of a Toyota enthusiast's forum when asking about removing what is arguably the thing that Toyotas are best known for in the reliability department.

I mean, what kind of reaction would you expect to get from asking about swapping a Toyota engine into your Z71 on chevydorks.com? Hell, you'd probably be banned for wanting to swap a ford v8...

Just calm down and try not to take yourself so seriously, m'kay?
