Anything can be stolen. It's just a waste of money and time at this point protecting your CATs. Let them be.

No but really, I don't think tree fiddy is that far off from what you'd get for 4 catalytic converters lol.

Isn't that the truth? We've been paying for car insurance forever it's about time they pay for something.

    Never enough
Step 1: get out of Stockton lol

Step 2: install skid plates. They reduce access to the area and have the added benefit of being useful for wheeling too

I know of a few taco owners who had their cats cut off. Big headache...

My brother in law had his 2nd gen cat cut off. Statefarm replaced it with an aftermarket. It would not pass smog a few months after. Finally convinced Statefarm to replace with an OEM cat which was in the neighborhood of $900 if I remember correctly. Smog'd it after and passed with flying colors. Statefarm also had him sign a waiver that if it got stolen again, they would not replace a second one with OEM again.

Happened to me twice on my T4R. Once at my office and once at Walmart. I'm pretty sure they used a cordless Sawzall. 4Runners and Tacos are targets because they are easy to crawl under.
Both times they cut my tailpipe, but didn't actually get the catalytic converter. Got the pipe welded back up at the muffler shop.
A few years ago they started requiring an id to sell one. Thefts dropped way off after that.

Emissions is the real reason. This change just was a bonus for theft reasons

Sucks that it has to happen. Had one stolen from my uncle's gen 1. Sounded like a loud lawn mower and a PITA to fix since they cut it.
